This chapter introduces gas-solid heterogeneous photothermal catalysis as a novel approach for advancing the field of heterogeneous catalysis. It begins by explaining the fundamental insights into charge carriers and heat generation under light and their integration for photothermal excitation. It then explores the advantages of light-heat dual activation in achieving efficient and selective catalysis. Following this, the chapter discusses innovative catalyst design strategies aimed at enhancing energy efficiency for next-generation light-powered chemical productions. Finally, we examine the scalability of photothermal catalysis based on recent research advances, techno-economic analysis, and pilot scale demonstrations.
