Kinetically fast racemization of chiral substrates through an achiral intermediate and enantioselective functionalization of one of the enantiomeric substrates forms the basis of the dynamic kinetic resolution (DKR) of centrally chiral molecules. We report ...

A hitherto unknown class of C4-symmetric Caryl Cβ (C3, C8, C13, C18) axially chiral porphyrins has been synthesized and the application of their iridium (Ir) complexes in catalytic asymmetric C(sp3) H functionalization is documented. Cyclotetramerization o ...

Artificial (transfer) hydrogenases have been developed for organic synthesis, but they rely on precious metals. Native hydrogenases use Earth-abundant metals, but these cannot be applied for organic synthesis due, in part, to their substrate specificity. H ...

Deracemization of racemic chiral compounds is an attractive approach in asymmetric synthesis, but its development has been hindered by energetic and kinetic challenges. Here we describe a catalytic deracemization method for secondary benzylic alcohols whic ...

An asymmetric 3-component reaction between EthynylBenziodoXoles (EBXs), 2,2,2-trifluorodiazoethane and nucleophiles catalyzed by a CuI-BOX (Bisoxazoline) catalyst is described. This protocol gives access to chiral trifluoromethylated propargyl ethers and a ...

Autocatalytic reactions were proposed to play a key role at the beginning of life starting from the first reduction of CO2 to formate, acetate and C-1-C-4 hydrocarbons. In carbon capture and utilization (CCU) processes, the same reactions were demonstrated ...

The electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) into valuable chemicals has the potential to realize a carbon-neutral energy cycle. Developing catalysts that can achieve high selectivity towards one of the possible reduction products is one of the bigge ...

Recent state-to-state experiments of methane scattering from Ni(111) and graphene-covered Ni(111) combined with quantum mechanical simulations suggest an intriguing correlation between the surface-induced vibrational energy redistribution (SIVR) during the ...

The development of new catalytic methods for organic synthesis is a critical endeavour in order to obviate the economic and ecological drawbacks of stoichiometric organic synthesis. While catalysis can offer significant advantages in terms of atom-economy, ...

Chiral auxiliaries and asymmetric catalysis are the workhorses of enantioselective transformations, but they still remain limited in terms of either efficiency or generality. Herein, we present an alternative strategy for controlling the stereoselectivity ...

An unprecedent asymmetric catalytic benzilic amide rearrangement for the synthesis of α,α-disubstituted piperazinones is reported. The reaction proceeds via a domino [4+1] imidazolidination/formal 1,2-nitro- gen shift/1,2-aryl or alkyl migration sequence, ...

This review presents an account of the palladium-catalyzed functionalizations of alkenes and alkynes developed at the Laboratory of Catalysis and Organic Synthesis (LCSO). Starting from the intramolecular oxy- and aminoalkynylation of alkenes, tethered met ...

Chiral cyclopentadienyl (Cpx) metal complexes have empowered the developement of challenging asymmetric C(sp2)-H activation transformations. However the preparation of competent atropchiral Cpx ligands is long and tedious. Moreover the range of application ...

The intermetallic compound PdGa has recently attracted considerable interest for combining high catalytic activity with high reaction selectivity in symmetric heterogeneous catalysis, in particular semi-hydrogenation of acetylene and methanol steam reformi ...

The chemistry of cyclopentadienyl ruthenium(II) complexes plays an important role in ruthenium catalysis because of its high potential for various transformations. However, asymmetric catalysis with chiral cyclopentadienyl ruthenium(II) complexes is still ...

The chemoenzymatic dynamic kinetic resolution of beta-amino esters is established after detailed evaluation of metal-based heterogeneous catalysts for racemization and enzyme catalysts for kinetic resolution. Several heterogeneous palladium catalysts prove ...

Asymmetric hydrogenations are among the most practical methods for the synthesis of chiral building blocks at industrial scale. The selective reduction of an oxime to the corresponding chiral hydroxylamine derivative remains a challenging variant because o ...

For the enantioselective diversification of a single starting material, a different chiral catalyst is usually required for each transformation. Herein, we extend the concept of catalytically formed chiral auxiliary from hydrogenation to the asymmetric cyc ...

The creation of new chiral ligands capable of providing high stereocontrol in metal-catalyzed reactions is crucial in modern organic synthesis. The production of bioactive molecules as single enantiomers is increasingly required, and asymmetric catalysis w ...

We report an enantioselective palladium-catalyzed trans-hydroalkoxylation of propargylic amines with a trifluoroacetaldehydederived tether to build chiral oxazolidines. Diastereoselective hydrogenation using a heterogeneous palladium catalyst then gave acc ...
