A search for new physics in final states consisting of at least one photon, multiple jets, and large missing transverse momentum is presented, using proton-proton collision events at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The data correspond to an integrated l ...

A search for physics beyond the standard model (SM) in the final state with a hadronically decaying tau lepton and a neutrino is presented. This analysis is based on data recorded by the CMS experiment from proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass ener ...

The hunt for exotic quantum phase transitions described by emergent fractionalized de-grees of freedom coupled to gauge fields requires a precise determination of the fixed point structure from the field theoretical side, and an extreme sensitivity to weak ...

By operating with the Scale Relativity Theory in the dynamics of complex systems, we can achieve a description of these complex systems through a holographic-type perspective. Then, gauge invariances of a Riccati-type become functional in complex system dy ...

This paper describes CosmoGattice, a modern package for lattice simulations of the dynamics of interacting scalar and gauge fields in an expanding universe. CosmoGattice incorporates a series of features that makes it very versatile and powerful: i) it is ...

In materials, certain approximated symmetry operations can exist in a lower-order approximation of the effective model but are good enough to influence the physical responses of the system, and these approximated symmetries were recently dubbed "quasisymme ...

The standard way to do computations in Quantum Field Theory (QFT) often results in the requirement of dramatic cancellations between contributions induced by a "heavy" sector into the physical observables of the "light" (or low energy) sector - the phenome ...

A search for the direct production of a pair of T sleptons, the supersymmetric partners of T leptons, is presented. Each T slepton is assumed to decay to a T lepton and the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP), which is assumed to be stable and to not in ...

In this thesis we study how physical principles imposed on the S-matrix, such as Lorentz invariance, unitarity, crossing symmetry and analyticity constrain quantum field theories at the nonperturbative level. We start with a pedagogical introduction to the ...

The boundary correlation functions for a quantum field theory (QFT) in a fixed anti-de Sitter (AdS) background should reduce to S-matrix elements in the flat-space limit. We consider this procedure in detail for four-point functions. With minimal assumptio ...

The measurement of the charge asymmetry in top quark pair events with highly Lorentz-boosted top quarks decaying to a single lepton and jets is presented. The analysis is performed using protonproton collisions at root s = 13 TeV with the CMS detector at t ...

We study two-point functions of symmetric traceless local operators in the bulk of de Sitter spacetime. We derive the Kallen-Lehmann spectral decomposition for any spin and show that unitarity implies its spectral densities are nonnegative. In addition, we ...

We find the conditions under which scale-invariant Einstein-Cartan gravity with scalar matter fields leads to an approximate conformal invariance of the flat space particle theory up to energies of the order of the Planck mass. In the minimal setup, these ...

We expand Hilbert series technologies in effective field theory for the inclusion of massive particles, enabling, among other things, the enumeration of operator bases for non-linearly realized gauge theories. We find that the Higgs mechanism is manifest a ...

A data sample containing top quark pairs (tt over bar ) produced in association with a Lorentz-boosted Z or Higgs boson is used to search for signs of new physics using effective field theory. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb-1 of ...

We investigate and characterize the emergence of finite-component dissipative phase transitions (DPTs) in nonlinear photon resonators subject to n-photon driving and dissipation. Exploiting a semiclassical approach, we derive general results on the occurre ...
