All physical processes can be described, at a fundamental level, through interactions of elementary particles. The Standard Model of particle physics (SM) describes three of the four known fundamental forces and all of the known elementary particles. The a ...

A first determination of the strong-phase difference between D0 and D0¯→K+K-π+π- is performed using e+e-→ψ(3770)→DD¯ data collected by the BESIII detector corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb-1. The measurements are made in four pairs of bi ...

A search for heavy, long-lived, charged particles with large ionization energy loss within the silicon tracker of the CMS experiment is presented. A data set of proton-proton collisions at a center of mass energy at s = 13 TeV, collected in 2017 and 2018 a ...

Using (27.12 +/- 0.14) x 10(8) psi(2S) events collected by the BESIII detector operating at BEPCII, we search for the decay eta(c) (2S) -> p (p) over bar via the process psi(2S) -> gamma eta(c)(2S) and only find a signal with a significance of 1.7 sigma. T ...

Our motivation in this paper is twofold. First, we study the geometry of a class of exploration sets, called exit sets, which are naturally associated with a 2D vector-valued Gaussian Free Field:

\phi : \mathbb{Z}^2 \rightarrow \mathbb{R}^N

N \ge 1

. W ...

One of the main goals of studying semileptonic decays in flavor physics is to gain a better understanding of hadronic transitions in the nonperturbative region of Quantum Chromodynamics. This involves measuring Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix elements, un ...

A search for the very rare

B^{*0}\rightarrow \mu ^+\mu ^-

and

B_{s}^{*0}\rightarrow \mu ^+\mu ^-

decays is conducted by analysing the

B_c^+\rightarrow \pi ^+\mu ^+\mu ^-

process. The analysis uses proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb ...

The space industry has experienced substantial growth in recent years, leading to rapid advancements in space exploration and space-based technologies. Consequently, the study of electronics and sensor performance in extreme environments has become crucial ...

Autonomous nuclear reactor monitoring is a key aspect of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s strategy to ensure nonproliferation treaty compliance. From the rise of small modular reactor technology, decentralized nuclear reactor fleets may strain the ...

In this thesis, the development and testing of a system for measuring the axial distribution of fast neutron emission of spent nuclear fuel rods is presented. Emphasis is placed on the novel fast neutron detector used which can reliably work in extremely h ...

A detailed MCNP neutronics model of the building housing the TCV tokamak has been developed. Predicted dose rates have been compared to neutron dose measurements at 12 locations in the building obtained during neutral beam injection into TCV plasmas. This ...

Conducting neutron scattering experiments in the presence of high pulsed magnetic fields, namely above 40 T, provides valuable information about the magnetic structures of materials. However, these experiments are challenging and time-consuming because the ...

The Fast Discharge Units (FDUs) of the Superconducting (SC) Toroidal Field (TF) coils in the European demonstration fusion power plant DEMO warrant the machine integrity over its full lifetime against severe failure events, such as SC coil quenches or any ...

The PETALE program aims to provide new experimental data to constrain the stainless steel nuclear data. In this frame, a preliminary measurement campaign has been performed to characterize the neutron flux in key positions of the CROCUS reactor and to deve ...

A search for Higgs boson pair (HH) production with one Higgs boson decaying to two bottom quarks and the other to two W bosons are presented. The search is done using proton-proton collisions data at a centre-of-mass energy of 13TeV, corresponding to an in ...

The sequence of codes Serpent/DYN3D has been developed by the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf and successfully applied to core static and transient analyses of sodium-cooled fast reactors (SFRs). The successful application of the sequence to SFRs was ...

The measurement of the charge asymmetry in top quark pair events with highly Lorentz-boosted top quarks decaying to a single lepton and jets is presented. The analysis is performed using protonproton collisions at root s = 13 TeV with the CMS detector at t ...

Six C-even states, denoted as X, with quantum numbers J(PC) = 0(-+), 1(++), or 2(++), are searched for via the e(+)e(-) -> gamma(DsDs*-/+)-D-+/- process using (1667.39 +/- 8.84) pb(-1) of e(+)e(-) collision data collected with the BESIII detector operating ...

Using (10087 +/- 44) x 10(6) J/psi events collected with the BESIII detector, we search for the rare decay J/psi -> gamma D-0 + c.c. for the first time. No significant signal is observed and the upper limit on the branching fraction is determined to be B(J ...

The JET hybrid scenario has been developed from low plasma current carbon wall discharges to the record-breaking Deuterium-Tritium plasmas obtained in 2021 with the ITER-like Be/W wall. The development started in pure Deuterium with refinement of the plasm ...
