All physical processes can be described, at a fundamental level, through interactions of elementary particles. The Standard Model of particle physics (SM) describes three of the four known fundamental forces and all of the known elementary particles. The a ...

A search for the very rare

B^{*0}\rightarrow \mu ^+\mu ^-

and

B_{s}^{*0}\rightarrow \mu ^+\mu ^-

decays is conducted by analysing the

B_c^+\rightarrow \pi ^+\mu ^+\mu ^-

process. The analysis uses proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb ...

A first determination of the strong-phase difference between D0 and D0¯→K+K-π+π- is performed using e+e-→ψ(3770)→DD¯ data collected by the BESIII detector corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb-1. The measurements are made in four pairs of bi ...

Using (27.12 +/- 0.14) x 10(8) psi(2S) events collected by the BESIII detector operating at BEPCII, we search for the decay eta(c) (2S) -> p (p) over bar via the process psi(2S) -> gamma eta(c)(2S) and only find a signal with a significance of 1.7 sigma. T ...

A search for heavy, long-lived, charged particles with large ionization energy loss within the silicon tracker of the CMS experiment is presented. A data set of proton-proton collisions at a center of mass energy at s = 13 TeV, collected in 2017 and 2018 a ...

One of the main goals of studying semileptonic decays in flavor physics is to gain a better understanding of hadronic transitions in the nonperturbative region of Quantum Chromodynamics. This involves measuring Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix elements, un ...

Our motivation in this paper is twofold. First, we study the geometry of a class of exploration sets, called exit sets, which are naturally associated with a 2D vector-valued Gaussian Free Field:

\phi : \mathbb{Z}^2 \rightarrow \mathbb{R}^N

N \ge 1

. W ...

The first evidence for the decay B^{-}→D^{**0}τ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{τ} is obtained using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb^{-1}, at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. Here, ...

A search for Higgs boson pair (HH) production with one Higgs boson decaying to two bottom quarks and the other to two W bosons are presented. The search is done using proton-proton collisions data at a centre-of-mass energy of 13TeV, corresponding to an in ...

The ratio of branching fractions between B0 → J/ψπ0 and B+ → J/ψK*+ decays is measured with proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1. The measured value is (Formula presented.) where ...

The measurement of Z boson production is presented as a method to determine the integrated luminosity of CMS data sets. The analysis uses proton-proton collision data, recorded by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC in 2017 at a center-of-mass energy of 13 ...

The cross-section of associated J/ψ-ψ(2S) production in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of (Formula presented.) TeV is measured using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.2 fb−1, collected by the LHCb experiment. ...

Using (10087 +/- 44) x 10(6) J/psi events collected with the BESIII detector, we search for the rare decay J/psi -> gamma D-0 + c.c. for the first time. No significant signal is observed and the upper limit on the branching fraction is determined to be B(J ...

Charmonium production cross-section in protonpvroton collisions is measured at the centre-of-mass energy root s = 13 TeV using decays to pp final state. The study is performed using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.2 fb(-1) coll ...

This thesis links two realms of particle accelerator dynamics and precision particle physics. The achievement of precise luminosity measurement at hadron colliders is enabled with dedicated luminometers. For the Run 3 period, the luminometer upgrade was ...

The ratio of production cross-sections of ψ(2S) over J/ψ mesons as a function of charged-particle multiplicity in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy s = 13 TeV is measured with a data sample collected by the LHCb detector, corresponding to ...

Six C-even states, denoted as X, with quantum numbers J(PC) = 0(-+), 1(++), or 2(++), are searched for via the e(+)e(-) -> gamma(DsDs*-/+)-D-+/- process using (1667.39 +/- 8.84) pb(-1) of e(+)e(-) collision data collected with the BESIII detector operating ...

We search for the hadronic decay eta(c)(2S) -> 2(pi(+) pi(-)) in the psi(3686) -> gamma eta(c)(2S) radiative decay using (27.12 +/- 0.14) x 10(8) psi(3686) events collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. No significant signal is found, and ...

The first search for the lepton number violating decay K+→π0π−μ+e+ and lepton flavour violating decays K+→π0π+μ−e+, K+→π0π+μ+e− has been performed using a dataset collected by the NA62 experiment at CERN in 2016–2018. Upper limits of 2.9×10−10, 3.1×10−10 a ...

Nuclear fusion, with its potential to provide a nearly unlimited energy source, has inspired scientists to work on the development of fusion power plants. Among the various devices designed to harness nuclear fusion, the tokamak confines the fusion fuel, w ...
