An inclusive search for long-lived exotic particles (LLPs) decaying to final states with a pair of muons is presented. The search uses data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.6 fb(-1) collected by the CMS experiment from the proton-proton coll ...

A measurement is presented of the primary Lund jet plane (LJP) density in inclusive jet production in proton-proton collisions. The analysis uses 138 fb(-1) of data collected by the CMS experiment at root s = 13TeV. The LJP, a representation of the phase s ...

The discovery of multiple coexisting magnetic phases in the crystallographically homogeneous compound Ca3Co2O6 has stimulated ongoing research activity. In recent years the main focus has been on the zero-field-state properties, where exceedingly long time ...

A combination of the results of several searches for the electroweak production of the supersymmetric partners of standard model bosons, and of charged leptons, is presented. All searches use proton-proton collision data at root s = 13 TeV recorded with th ...

The chiral magnetic effect (CME) is a quantum relativistic effect that describes the appearance of an additional electric current along a magnetic field. It is caused by an asymmetry between the number densities of left- and right-handed fermions, which ca ...

Formamide, a simple model bio-molecule (HCONH2), is irradiated with high intensity, ultrashort pulses from an x-ray free electron laser. Ionic fragments resulting from photoionization and subsequent decay processes are recorded, as well as the electronic s ...

A search for the production of long-lived particles in proton- proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeVat the CERN LHC is presented. The search is based on data collected by the CMS experiment in 2016-2018, corresponding to a total integrated ...

A search for long-lived heavy neutral leptons (HNLs) is presented, which considers the hadronic final state and coupling scenarios involving all three lepton generations in the 2-20 GeV HNL mass range for the first time. Events comprising two leptons (elec ...

Although the frustrated (zigzag) spin chain is the Drosophila of frustrated magnetism, our understanding of a pair of coupled zigzag chains (frustrated spin ladder) in a magnetic field is still lacking. We address this problem through nuclear magnetic reso ...

The decays of the χb1(1P), χb2(1P), χb1(2P) and χb2(2P) mesons into the Υ(1S)μ+μ− final state are observed with a high significance using proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb detector and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1. ...

A study of the anomalous couplings of the Higgs boson to vector bosons, including CP-violation effects, has been conducted using its production and decay in the WW channel. This analysis is performed on proton-proton collision data collected with the CMS d ...

This paper presents two scenarios used for generation of a runaway electron (RE) beam in the COMPASS tokamak with a focus on the decay phase and control of the beam. The first scenario consists of massive gas injection of argon into the current ramp-up pha ...

DEMO will have a limited diagnostic set for optimization of reactor performance, and limited diagnostic coverage due to challenging reactor conditions. This poses challenges for control, especially for detachment control which is planned to be performed wi ...

Nanoscale detection and control of the magnetic order underpins a spectrum of condensed-matter research and device functionalities involving magnetism. The key principle involved is the breaking of time-reversal symmetry, which in ferromagnets is generated ...

Transport modelling of Joint European Torus (JET) dimensionless collisionality scaling experiments in various operational scenarios is presented. Interpretative simulations at a fixed radial position are combined with predictive JETTO simulations of temper ...

A measurement of the Higgs boson (H) production via vector boson fusion (VBF) and its decay into a bottom quark-antiquark pair (b (b) over bar) is presented using proton-proton collision data recorded by the CMS experiment at root s = 13TeV and correspondi ...

Previous studies provide strong evidence for the therapeutic effect of electromagnetic fields (EMFs) on different tissues including cartilage. Diverse exposure parameters applied in scientific reports and the unknown interacting mechanism of EMF with biolo ...

Scintillating fibre detectors combine sub-mm resolution particle tracking, precise measurements of the particle stopping power and sub-ns time resolution. Typically, fibres are read out with silicon photomultipliers (SiPM). Hence, if fibres with a few hund ...

We study the influence of local inhomogeneities on carrier recombination dynamics in single InGaN/GaN core-shell microrods (MRs) by means of time-resolved microphotoluminescence (TRPL) at 10 K. At low carrier density (similar to 10(11) cm(-2)), the carrier ...

The escalating energy demand and the imperative necessity to reduce the carbon footprint require transformative approaches to energy conversion. Materials chemistry plays a pivotal role in addressing these global challenges by developing novel materials fo ...
