Time-dependent CP-violating asymmetry in B0→ρ0γ decays

Abstract

We report the first measurement of CP-violation parameters in B0→ρ0γ decays based on a data sample of 657×106BB̄ pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. We obtain the time-dependent and direct CP-violating parameters, Sρ0γ=-0.83±0.65(stat)±0.18(syst) and Aρ0γ=-0.44±0.49(stat)±0.14(syst), respectively. © 2008 The American Physical Society.

In particle physics, CP violation is a violation of CP-symmetry (or charge conjugation parity symmetry): the combination of C-symmetry (charge symmetry) and P-symmetry (parity symmetry). CP-symmetry states that the laws of physics should be the same if a particle is interchanged with its antiparticle (C-symmetry) while its spatial coordinates are inverted ("mirror" or P-symmetry).
