Non-invasive beam diagnostics are essential for operating modern high-intensity accelerators such as the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Among these diagnostics, Schottky monitors stand out for their ability to measure tune, chromaticity, momentum spread, and ...

A search for heavy neutral gauge bosons (Z ') decaying into a pair of tau leptons is performed in proton-proton collisions at root s = 13 TeV at the CERN LHC. The data were collected with the CMS detector and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 138 f ...

The Future Circular Collider (FCC) study is developing designs for a new research infrastructure to host the next generation of higher performance particle colliders to extend the research currently being conducted at the LHC. In particular, FCC-ee is an e ...

The observation of transverse Schottky spectra provides insight into intrabunch particle dynamics and serves in numerous facilities to derive important beam and machine parameters, such as the betatron tune, first-order chromaticity, and transverse emittan ...

The hydrodynamic flow-like behavior of charged hadrons in high-energy lead-lead collisions is studied through multiparticle correlations. The elliptic anisotropy values based on different orders of multiparticle cumulants, v(2){2k}, are measured up to the ...

When the available collision energy is much above the mass of the particles involved, scattering amplitudes feature kinematic configurations that are enhanced by the much lower virtuality of some intermediate particle. Such configurations generally factori ...

The Schottky monitors of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) can be used for non-invasive beam diagnostics to estimate various bunch characteristics, such as tune, chromaticity, bunch profile or synchrotron frequency distribution. However, collective effects, ...

A study of B-c(+) -> chi(c) pi(+) decays is reported using proton-proton collision data, collected with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb(-1). The decay B-c(+) -> chi(c2)pi(+) ...

The first observation of the production of W(±)W(±) bosons from double parton scattering processes using same-sign electron-muon and dimuon events in proton-proton collisions is reported. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb(-1 ...

A search for the lepton-flavour violating decays B0 -> K*0µ(±)e(∓) and B(s)0-> ϕµ(±)e(∓) is presented, using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb(-1). No significant signa ...

This PhD thesis aims at testing one of the fundamental properties of the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics: the lepton flavour universality (LFU), which states that

W

and

Z

bosons are equally coupled to the three lepton generations. In this work, ...

In the Large Hadron Collider, the beam losses are continuously measured for machine protection. By design, most of the particle losses occur in the collimation system, where the particles with high oscilla-tion amplitudes or large momentum error are scrape ...

A search is presented for the Higgs boson decay to a pair of electrons (e(+)e(-)) in proton-proton collisions at root s= 13 TeV. The data set was collected with the CMS experiment at the LHC between 2016 and 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity ...

Events containing a Z boson and a charm jet are studied for the first time in the forward region of proton-proton collisions. The data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb(-1) collected at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV with the L ...

Effective Field Theories (EFTs) allow a description of low energy effects of heavy new physics Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) in terms of higher dimensional operators among the SM fields. EFTs are not only an elegant and consistent way to describe heavy n ...

Since 2020, synchrotron radiation facilities in several Asia-Pacific countries have been collaborating in a major project called "SYNAPSE"(Synchrotrons for Neuroscience: an Asia-Pacific Scientific Enterprise). They use x-ray imaging to attack in a coordina ...

The photoproduction of J/ψ mesons at low transverse momentum is studied in peripheral lead-lead collisions collected by the LHCb Collaboration at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of 5TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 210 μb−1. The J ...

The objective of this thesis is the development of high-field and high-current joints between Nb3Sn cables for superconducting coils. The main fields of application are high energy physics (HEP) and thermonuclear fusion. In this thesis, the focus is on Win ...
