The branching fraction of the decay B + → ψ ( 2 S ) ϕ ( 1020 ) K + , relative to the topologically similar decay B + → J / ψ ϕ ( 1020 ) K + , is measured using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8 ...

Using a data sample of (10087 +/- 44)x10(6) J/psi events collected with the BESIII detector, we search for the decays eta/eta' -> e (+) e (-)mu (+)mu (-) and eta'->mu(+)mu(-)mu(+)mu(-) via the radiative decaysJ/psi ->gamma eta/gamma eta '. No excess of eve ...

A study is presented of B+→KS0K-π+K+ and B+→KS0K+π-K+ decays based on the analysis of proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb-1. The KS0K ...

In this paper, we propose a reduced-order modeling strategy for two-way Dirichlet-Neumann parametric coupled problems solved with domain-decomposition (DD) sub-structuring methods. We split the original coupled differential problem into two sub-problems wi ...

Using (27.12 +/- 0.14) x 10(8) psi(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector, we present the first observation of the decays chi(cJ) -> Lambda(Lambda) over bar omega, where J = 0, 1, 2, with statistical significances of 11.7s, 11.2s, and 11.8s. The b ...

A large variety of new physics models suggest that the rates for lepton flavour violating

-hadron decays may be much higher than predicted in the Standard Model, which leads to a high interest in the search for such decays. This thesis presents the se ...

A study of B-c(+) -> chi(c) pi(+) decays is reported using proton-proton collision data, collected with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb(-1). The decay B-c(+) -> chi(c2)pi(+) ...

Computer systems rely heavily on abstraction to manage the exponential growth of complexity across hardware and software. Due to practical considerations of compatibility between components of these complex systems across generations, developers have favou ...

We present a numerical model for the approximation of multiphase flows with free surfaces and strong interfacial effects. The model relies on the multiphase incompressible Navier-Stokes equations, and includes surface tension effects on the interfaces betw ...

When two objects slide against each other, wear and friction occur at their interface. The accumulation of wear forms what is commonly referred to as a ``third-body''. Understanding third-body evolution has significant applications in industry, where contr ...

This article reports on the current state of the OBI DICT project, a bilingual e-dictionary of oracle-bone inscriptions (OBI), incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) image recognition technology. It first provides a brief overview of the development of ...

Rubble stone masonry is a common construction typology of historical city centres and vernacular architecture. While past earthquakes have shown that it is one of the most vulnerable masonry construction typologies, there are few experimental campaigns giv ...

The goal of this work is to use anisotropic adaptive finite elements for the numerical simulation of aluminium electrolysis. The anisotropic adaptive criteria are based on a posteriori error estimates derived for simplified problems. First, we consider an ...

Background: Simulating the cardiac function requires the numerical solution of multi-physics and multi-scale mathematical models. This underscores the need for streamlined, accurate, and high-performance computational tools. Despite the dedicated endeavors ...

This article describes a field-based analytical model of single-sided linear induction motors (SLIMs) that explicitly considers the following effects altogether: finite motor length, magnetomotive force mmf space harmonics, slot effect, edge effect, and ta ...

Induced seismicity caused by anthropogenic modification of the subsurface effective stress state has been observed in a number of industrial applications -- from hydrocarbon extraction (e.g., Groningen [1]), drilling waste-water disposal (e.g., [2]) to the ...

Literature on linear induction motors (LIMs) has proposed several approaches to model the behavior of such devices for different applications. In terms of accuracy and fidelity, field analysis-based models are the most relevant. Closed-form or numerical so ...

In this work, we examine a network of agents operating asynchronously, aiming to discover an ideal global model that suits individual local datasets. Our assumption is that each agent independently chooses when to participate throughout the algorithm and t ...

An a posteriori error estimator based on an equilibrated flux reconstruction is proposed for defeaturing problems in the context of finite element discretizations. Defeaturing consists in the simplification of a geometry by removing features that are consi ...

In our study, we investigated the impact of changes in Mode I fracture toughness and stress barriers on fully developed planar, buoyant hydraulic fractures assuming linear elastic hydraulic fracture mechanics. We present scaling-based arguments to predict ...
