Halide perovskite nanocrystals are promising materials for optoelectronic applications. Metal doping provides an avenue to boost their performance further, e.g., by enhancing light emission, or to provide additional functionalities, such as nanoscale magne ...

The photophysical properties of low‐dimensional metal‐halide semiconductors and their tunability make them promising candidates for light‐absorbing and emitting applications. Yet, the germanium‐based halide perovskites to date lack desirable light‐emitting ...

Nanoribbons, nanometre-wide strips of a two-dimensional material, are a unique system in condensed matter. They combine the exotic electronic structures of low-dimensional materials with an enhanced number of exposed edges, where phenomena including ultral ...

Hybrid nanocomposites including quantum dots (QDs) and molecular dyes offer tunability of charge and energy transfer processes, which are attractive for applications spanning from light-emitting devices to photocatalysis and photon upconversion. Core@shell ...

Six-coordinate chromium(iii) complexes with high spin-flip (SF) photoluminescence quantum yields and lifetimes (molecular rubies) have attracted huge interest in the past years due to their applicability in sensing, photocatalysis or circularly polarised e ...

Materials with inversion symmetry cannot display optical activity. A recent Science study, however, shows how the interference between linear dichroism and linear birefringence can lead to apparent circular dichroism in centrosymmetric materials, introduci ...

Materials emitting circularly polarized light (CPL) are highly sought after for applications ranging from efficient displays to quantum information technologies1–7. However, established methods for time-resolved CPL (TRCPL) characterization have notable li ...

A complete series of CsPb(ClxBr1-x)3 mixed-halide perovskites with x = 0-1 in small steps is reported, and their structural and optical properties characterised. A comparison of synthetic approaches shows that mechanosynthesis yields the most robust data a ...

Solution-processable semiconductors like halide perovskites and certain molecules are promising for next-generation spin-optoelectronic applications [1]. Yet, we don’t fully understand what governs spin and light polarization in these materials, and even l ...

Cs2AgBiBr6 shows promise for solution-processable optoelectronics, such as photovoltaics, photocatalysis, and X-ray detection. However, various spectroscopic studies report rapid charge carrier mobility loss in the first picosecond after photoexcitation, l ...

A new yellow-emitting quadrupolar donor-π-acceptor-π-donor (D-π-A-π-D) molecule compound has been synthesised featuring benzo-[1,2-c:4,5-c′]dithiophene-4,8-dione as the acceptor. This molecule was prepared for the purpose of elucidating the origins of the ...
