We compute synthetic, rest-frame optical and ultraviolet (UV) emission-line properties of galaxy populations at redshifts from z approximate to 0 to =8 in a full cosmological framework. We achieve this by coupling, in post-processing, the cosmological Illu ...

The galaxy-integrated star formation rate (SFR) surface density measurement (ΣSFR) has been proposed as a valuable diagnostic of the mass accumulation in galaxies given it is more tightly related to the physics of star formation and stellar feedback than o ...

Extreme emission line galaxies (EELGs), where nebular emissions contribute 30%-40% of the flux in certain photometric bands, are ubiquitous in the early Universe (z > 6). We utilize deep NIRCam imaging from the JWST Advanced Deep Extragalactic Survey (JADE ...

Optical emission-line ratios are traditionally used to estimate gas metallicities from observed galaxy spectra. While such estimators have been calibrated primarily at low redshift, they are commonly used to interpret observations of high-redshift galaxies ...

We present a comprehensive study of the star formation histories of massive-quenched galaxies at z = 3 in three semi-analytical models (SHARK, GAEA, GALFORM) and three cosmological hydrodynamical simulations (EAGLE, ILLUSTRISTNG, SIMBA). We study the predi ...

Line ratio diagnostics provide valuable clues as to the source of ionizing radiation in galaxies with intense black hole accretion and starbursting events, such as local Seyfert galaxies or galaxies at the peak of their star formation history. We aim to pr ...

We present JWST/NIRSpec prism spectroscopy of seven galaxies selected from Cosmic Evolution Early Release Science (CEERS) survey NIRCam imaging with photometric redshifts z(phot) > 8. We measure emission line redshifts of z = 7.65 and 8.64 for two galaxies ...

The Cosmic Evolution Early Release Science program observed the Extended Groth Strip (EGS) with the Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI) on the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) in 2022. In this paper, we discuss the four MIRI pointings that observed with longer ...

Mid-infrared (mid-IR) observations are powerful in identifying heavily obscured active galactic nuclei (AGN) that have weak emission in other wavelengths. Data from the Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI) on board the James Webb Space Telescope provides an exce ...

We report the identification of 64 new candidates of compact galaxies, potentially hosting faint quasars with bolometric luminosities of L-bol = 10(43)-10(46) erg s(-1), residing in the reionization epoch within the redshift range of 6 less than or similar ...

Outflows are a key element in the baryon cycle of galaxies, impacting their evolution by extracting gas, momentum, and energy and then injecting them into the surrounding medium. The properties of gas outflows provide a fundamental test for our models of h ...

Filaments are elongated structures that connect groups and clusters of galaxies and are visually the striking feature in cosmological maps. In the literature, typically filaments are defined only using galaxies, assuming that these are good tracers of the ...

We present an implementation of Pop III.1 seeding of supermassive black holes (SMBHs) in a theoretical model of galaxy formation and evolution to assess the growth of the SMBH population and the properties of the host galaxies. The model of Pop III.1 seedi ...

Stellar metallicity distribution functions (MDFs) have been measured for resolved stellar populations in the outer halos of many galaxies in nearby groups. Among them, the MDF of NGC 5128, the central giant elliptical in the Centaurus group, provides essen ...

We present rest-frame optical spectra from Keck/MOSFIRE and Keck/NIRES of 16 candidate ultramassive galaxies targeted as part of the Massive Ancient Galaxies at z > 3 Near-Infrared Survey (MAGAZ3NE). These candidates were selected to have photometric redsh ...

We present a sample of 62 Hα detected broad-line active galactic nuclei (BLAGNs) at redshifts 3.5 < z < 6.8 using data from the CEERS and RUBIES surveys. We select these sources directly from JWST/NIRSpec G395M/F290LP spectra. We use a multistep pre-select ...

We present the addition of nebular emission from the narrow-line regions (NLR) surrounding active galactic nuclei (AGNs) to BEAGLE (BayEsian Analysis of GaLaxy sEds). Using a set of idealized spectra, we fit to a set of observables (emission-line ratios an ...

This work focusses on the pilot run of a simulation campaign aimed at investigating the spectroscopic capabilities of the Euclid NearInfrared Spectrometer and Photometer (NISP), in terms of continuum and emission line detection in the context of galaxy evo ...

The origin of obscuration in active galactic nuclei (AGNs) is still an open debate. In particular, it is unclear what drives the relative contributions to the line-of-sight column densities from galaxy-scale and torus-linked obscuration. The latter source ...

Feedback from black-hole-powered jets has been invoked in many cosmological simulations to regulate star formation and quench galaxies. Despite this, observational evidence of how jets might be able to affect their hosts remains scarce, especially for low- ...
