In this paper, we consider electric vehicle charging facilities that offer various levels of service, i.e., charging rates, for varying prices such that rational users choose a level of service that minimizes the total cost to themselves including an oppor ...

Electric vehicle charging facilities offer their capacity constrained electric charge and parking to users for a fee. As electric vehicle adoption grows, so too does the potential for excessive resource utilization. In this paper, we study how prices set b ...

This paper proposes a receding-horizon, game-theoretic charging planning mechanism for electric ride-hailing markets. As the demand for ride-hailing services continues to surge and governments advocate for stricter environmental regulations, integrating el ...

The impact of ride-hailing vehicles on congestion raises multiple concerns, particularly in areas where the network space is constrained and the route infrastructure is unevenly distributed among multi-modal users. Mainly, idle ride-hailing vehicles pose m ...

On-demand trip sharing is an efficient solution to mitigate the negative externalities e-hailing has on traffic in a network. It motivates platform operators to reduce their fleet size and serves the same demand level with a lower effective distance travel ...

Motivated by the growing popularity of both the services offered by the ride-hailing companies and the electric vehicles (EVs), we study a scenario in which a central body e.g., the government, wants to influence how the EVs of different ride-hailing compa ...

The ongoing electrification of the transportation fleet will increase the load on the electric power grid. Since both the transportation network and the power grid already experience periods of significant stress, joint analyses of both infrastructures wil ...

Due to the ever-increasing popularity of ride-hailing services and the indisputable shift towards alternative fuel vehicles, the intersection of the ride-hailing market and smart electric mobility provides an opportunity to trade different services to achi ...

In urban air mobility (UAM) networks, takeoff and landing sites, called vertiports, are likely to experience intermittent closures due to, e.g., adverse weather. To ensure safety, all in-flight urban air vehicles (UAVs) in a UAM network must therefore have ...

With the growing popularity of ride-hailing services and the desire to operate those services efficiently, ridehailing companies need to ensure a sufficiently large fleet size and an appropriate rebalancing of empty vehicles. Due to the complexity of city ...

Dynamical flow networks serve as macroscopic models for, e.g., transportation networks, queuing networks, and distribution networks. While the flow dynamics in such networks follow the conservation of mass on the links, the outflow from each link is often ...

This paper analyzes a class of Stackelberg games where different actors compete for shared resources and a central authority tries to balance the demand through a pricing mechanism. Situations like this can for instance occur when fleet owners of electric ...

An evacuation due to, e.g., hurricanes, floods, or forest fires often puts severe stress on the transportation network and can create congestion or grid locks. In this paper, we present an evacuation planning solution where we model the city traffic as a c ...

Both ride-hailing services and electric vehicles are becoming increasingly popular and it is likely that charging management of the ride-hailing vehicles will be a significant part of the ride-hailing company's operation in the near future. Motivated by th ...

With the increasing popularity of ride-hailing services, new modes of transportation are having a significant impact on the overall performance of transportation networks. As a result, there is a need to ensure that both the various transportation alternat ...

Ride-sourcing platforms, among other solution services, offer convenience and flexibility when it comes to pick-up/drop-off time and location. Similarly, ride-splitting renders itself as an extension of ride-sourcing where platform users agree to share the ...

In Urban Air Mobility (UAM) networks, takeoff and landing sites, called vertiports, are likely to experience intermittent closures due to, e.g., adverse weather. For safety, it will be required that all in-transit Urban Air Vehicles (UAVs) in a UAM network ...

When a centrally operated ride-hailing company considers to enter a market already served by another company, it has to make a strategic decision about how to distribute its fleet among different regions in the area. This decision will be influenced by the ...

With the electrification of ride-hailing fleets, there will be a need to incentivize where and when the ride-hailing vehicles should charge. In this work, we assume that a central authority wants to control the distribution of the vehicles and can do so by ...
