The authors demonstrate programmable integrated microwave photonic filters with low noise figure and ultrahigh dynamic range, using combination of modulation transformer and double injection ring resonator in a single photonic chip. Microwave photonics has ...

Vital sign detection is used across ubiquitous scenarios in medical and health settings, and contact and wearable sensors have been widely deployed. However, they are unsuitable for patients with burn wounds or infants with insufficient areas for attachmen ...

Silicon nitride (Si3N4) photonic integrated circuits (PICs) offer significant advantages over traditional silicon photonics, including low loss and superior power handling at optical communication wavelength bands. To facilitate high-density integration an ...

Coherent optomechanical interaction known as stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) can enable ultrahigh resolution signal processing and narrow-linewidth lasers. SBS has recently been studied extensively in integrated waveguides; however, many implementati ...

Non-reciprocal optical components such as isolators and circulators are crucial for preventing catastrophic back -reflection and controlling optical cross talk in photonic systems. While non-reciprocal devices based on Brillouin intermodal transitions have ...

Erbium-doped fibre lasers exhibit high coherence and low noise as required for fibre-optic sensing, gyroscopes, LiDAR and optical frequency metrology. Endowing erbium-based gain in photonic integrated circuits can provide a basis for miniaturizing low-nois ...

Multidimensional optical sensing is crucial in information technology and modern intelligent systems. Despite advancement in optical sensing, capturing multidimensional light field information remains challenging, typically implemented using cascaded singl ...

Photonic stepped-frequency radars based on optical frequency-shifting modulation have shown attractive properties such as wide bandwidth, centimeter range resolution, inherent frequency-time linearity with low spectrum spurs, and reduced system complexity. ...

We demonstrate an integrated Erbium-based tunable laser using wafer-scale fabrication and ion implantation of silicon nitride photonic integrated circuits. We achieve single-frequency lasing tunable from 1530 nm to 1621 nm covering nearly the entire optica ...

Chip-scale integration is a key enabler for the deployment of photonic technologies. Coherent laser ranging or FMCW LiDAR, a perception technology that benefits from instantaneous velocity and distance detection, eye-safe operation, long-range, and immunit ...
