Uncontrollable zinc dendrite growth and parasitic reactions have greatly hindered the development of high energy and long life rechargeable aqueous zinc-ion batteries. Herein, the synergic effect of a bifunctional lignin-containing cellulose nanofiber (LCN ...

Aqueous rechargeable zinc ion batteries (ZIBs) are regarded as a promising candidates for next-generation energy storage devices but strongly hindered by the limited utilization of the zinc metal anode (below 5%) due to the active water/anion corrosion. He ...

The preparation of atom-thick porous lattice hosting & Aring;-scale pores is attractive to achieve a large ion-ion selectivity in combination with a large ion flux. Graphene film is an ideal selective layer for this if high-precision pores can be incorpora ...

Supported Co-based catalysts exhibit promising catalytic activities in the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) during alkaline water electrolysis. Surface functionalization of the support modulates the dispersion of the catalysts and their interaction with the ...

Zinc metal batteries are strongly hindered by water corrosion, as solvated zinc ions would bring the active water molecules to the electrode/electrolyte interface constantly. Herein, we report a sacrificial solvation shell to repel active water molecules f ...

Manganese oxides are attracting great interest owing to their rich polymorphism and multiple valent states, which give rise to a wide range of applications in catalysis, capacitors, ion batteries, and so forth. Most of their functionalities are connected t ...

Realizing a hydrogen economy strongly requires alkaline water electrolysis to achieve large-scale generation of H2, but lacks stable and efficient catalysts. The insufficient active sites in Ni(OH)2 impair the catalytic performance of alkaline HER. Herein, ...

Aqueous zinc metal batteries with mild acidic electrolytes are considered promising candidates for large-scale energy storage. However, the Zn anode suffers from severe Zn dendrite growth and side reactions due to the unstable interfacial pH and the absenc ...

Poly(triazine imide) or PTI is an ordered graphitic carbon nitride hosting angstrom-scale pores attractive for selective molecular transport. AA'-stacked PTI layers are synthesized by ionothermal route during which ions occupy the framework and occlude the ...

Expanding interspace and introducing vacancies are desired to promote the mobility of Zn ions and unlock the inactive sites of layered cathodes. However, this two-point modulation has not yet been achieved simultaneously in vanadium phosphate. Here, a stra ...

The aqueous zinc-ion battery is promising as grid scale energy storage device, but hindered by the instable electrode/electrolyte interface. Herein, we report the lean-water ionic liquid electrolyte for aqueous zinc metal batteries. The lean-water ionic li ...

A fundamental understanding of the nucleation and growth behaviors of Zn metal anodes over a wide range of temperatures is of great value for suppressing Zn dendrite growth. However, work focused on the early nucleation and growth behavior of Zn metal at v ...

Research and development of flexible lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) with high energy density and long cycle life for portable and wearable electronic devices has been a cutting-edge effort in recent years. In this paper, a novel flexible self-standing anode ...

Perovskite solar modules (PSMs) show outstanding power conversion efficiencies (PCEs), but long-term operational stability remains problematic. We show that incorporating N,N-dimethylmethyleneiminium chloride into the perovskite precursor solution formed d ...

Research and development of flexible electrodes with high performance are crucial to largely determine the performance of flexible lithium-ion batteries (FLIBs) to a large extent. In this work, a flexible anode (TiO2 NRsMoS2 NSFs/CC) is rationally designed ...

The production of atomically thin transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) has been investigated through various top-to-down exfoliation methods, such as mechanical and chemical exfoliation, while large-scale chemical exfoliation is sluggish and needs over ...

The irreversible release of the lattice oxygen in layered cathodes is one of the major degradation mechanisms of lithium ion batteries, which accounts for a number of battery failures including the voltage/capacity fade, loss of cation ions and detachment ...

Heteroatom doping engineering is deemed to be an adoptable strategy to boost the potassium (K) storage performance of carbonaceous materials. The inevitable issue for this strategy lies in the huge volume expansion originated from the large radius of K+. I ...

The sustainable development of rechargeable aqueous zinc-ion batteries (RZIBs) is severely limited by the uncontrolled zinc dendritic growth and side reactions on the anode. Herein, a lignocellulose nanofiber (LCNF) separator from waste palm with dual-func ...

Zero-dimensional pores spanning only a few angstroms in size in two-dimensional materials such as graphene are some of the most promising systems for designing ion-ion selective membranes. However, the key challenge in the field is that so far a crack-free ...
