The following data contain the information and files, which are required to recreate and build the experimental setup that is described in the Laboratory manual. Further details can be found in the associated publication “A graduate laboratory experiment t ...

Described is a closed-loop control scheme capable of stabilizing a parametrically excited nonlinear structure in several vibration modes. By setting the relative phase between the spatially filtered response and the excitation, the open-loop unstable solut ...

The concept of creating all-mechanical soft microrobotic systems has great potential to address outstanding challenges in biomedical applications, and introduce more sustainable and multifunctional products. To this end, magnetic fields and light have been ...

The paper presents an improved slow-speed mass balancing procedure capable of reducing high-speed related imbalance. Parametric excitation is used to project the small imbalance forces onto a chosen mode of vibration, corresponding to a high critical rotat ...

Here, we introduce a design, fabrication, and control methodology for large amplitude torsional microactuators powered by ultrasound. The microactuators are 3D printed from two polymers with drastically different elastic moduli as a monolithic compliant me ...

The comprehension of physical wave phenomena is imperative for students in the fields of engineering and basic sciences. Laboratory experiments that involve generation of acoustic waves can be used to explain advanced nonlinear wave phenomena. Acoustic lev ...

One of the grand challenges in interventional cardiology and neuroradiology is to minimize the operation time and risk of damage during catheterization. These two factors drastically increase if the target location resides in small and tortuous vessels. Fl ...

Microbubbles excited by acoustic fields inside water oscillate, and generate acoustic radiation forces and drag-induced acoustic streaming. These forces can be harnessed in various biomedical applications such as targeted drug delivery and on-chip biomanip ...

Acoustic levitation devices use powerful ultrasonic standing waves to levitate objects in mid-air. We have created a system and method to measure the full harmonic content of the acoustic field accurately. Our study revealed that levitated particles alter ...
