We present an analog silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) based on a standard 55-nm Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS (BCD) technology. The SiPM is composed of 16 x 16 single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) and measures 0.29 x 0.32 mm(2). Each SPAD cell is passively quenched by ...

The Piccolo gated sensor features a 32x32 SPAD array of single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) operating in time-correlated single-photon counting (TCSPC). The chip enables event-driven readout and a maximum count rate of 220 Mcps. The sensor is based on t ...

The overall sensitivity of frontside-illuminated, silicon single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) arrays has often suffered from fill factor limitations. The fill factor loss can however be recovered by employing microlenses, whereby the challenges specific t ...

SPADs have become the sensors of choice in many applications ranging from Time-of-Flight to low-light imaging. From their development in custom technologies, their introduction in standard CMOS processes has paved the way to their integration in mass produ ...

We report on LinoSPAD2, a single-photon camera system, comprising a 512x1 single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) front -end and one or two FPGA-based back-ends. Digital signals generated by the SPADs are processed by the FPGA in real time, whereas the FPGA o ...

The LinoSPAD2 camera combines a 512×1 linear single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) array with an FPGA-based photon-counting and time-stamping platform, to create a reconfigurable sensing system capable of detecting single photons. The read-out is fully para ...

Silicon-based single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) implemented in front-side illuminated arrays and imagers have often suffered from fill factor limitations. The corresponding reduced sensitivity can be sometimes traded off with longer acquisition times ...

SPAD arrays are becoming a popular choice for measuring two-photon interference effects thanks to their high timing precision, fast readout, and high quantum efficiency. However, such sensors are affected by cross-talk that may mimic the useful signal. Eve ...

Cross-talk is a well-known feature of single-photon avalanche detectors. It is especially important to account for this effect in applications involving temporal coincidences of two or more photons registered by the sensor since in this case the cross-talk ...
