We demonstrate a novel class of lasers, based on the hybrid integration of an RSOA with an extended-distributed Bragg reflector (E-DBR) laser cavity implemented on a Si3N4 chip with microheaters. This enables us to reach sub-kHz laser linewidth with more t ...

We present the integration of four individual erbium-doped waveguide optical amplifiers on a Si3N4 photonic integrated circuit hybrid integrated with a four-lane semiconductor pump laser diode chip. Each amplifier achieves 15 dB on-chip gain. ...

We demonstrate a stabilization scheme for dissipative Kerr solitons in SiN-resonators achieving high comb stability and long-term operation. Measuring 10Hz level absolute Kerr comb line stability (at 1 second) close to the pump, resulting in kHz level stab ...

We demonstrate a 64-times multiplication of a mode-locked laser’s 217 MHz pulse repetition rate to 14 GHz using an integrated Si3N4 interleaver. Six cascaded stages of Mach-Zehnder interferometers with up to 33 cm long optical delay lines are fully integra ...

We demonstrate a photonic integrated circuit-based Erbium laser by endowing an ultralow-loss silicon nitride integrated optical cavity with Erbium-based gain. The free-running laser achieves 50 Hz intrinsic linewidth, 17 mW output power, and 40 nm waveleng ...

We demonstrate the first observation of optical frequency combs at the edge state of the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model. We show soliton-induced edge-bulk interaction and edge-state hopping. ...

Photonic integrated circuit optical waveguide device preparation or fabrication method comprising providing a silicon substrate, depositing at least one copper gettering silicon nitride layer or material, depositing at least one optical waveguide cladding ...

We demonstrate for the first time a frequency-modulated continuous wave photonic integrated blue laser with sub-MHz linewidth. The laser exhibits frequency excursion greater than 900 MHz at up to 1 MHz triangular chirp rate with a nonlinearity of less than ...

We implement Euler bends to build compact high-Q Si3N4 racetrack microresonators, featuring a small footprint of only 0.21 mm(2) for 19.8 GHz FSR. We demonstrate that these multi-mode microresonators can be operated in the single-mode regime and generate a ...
