In this thesis work, we propose to exploit an innovative micro/nano-fabrication process, based on controlled fluid instabilities of a thin viscous film of chalcogenide glass. Amorphous selenium and arsenic triselenide were used in this thesis work, and com ...

Stimuli-responsive polymers offer unprecedented control over drug release in implantable delivery systems. Shape memory polymer fibers (SMPFs), with their large specific surface area and programmable properties, present promising alternatives for triggerab ...

When a liquid film lies on a nonwettable substrate, the configuration is unstable, and the film spontaneously ruptures to form droplets. This phenomenon, known as dewetting, commonly leads to undesirable morphological changes. Nevertheless, recent works, c ...

Long and flexible arrays of nanowires find impactful applications in sensing, photonics, and energy harvesting. Conventional manufacturing relies largely on lithographic methods limited in wafer size, rigidity, and machine write time. Here, we report a sca ...

Soft electronics have recently gathered considerable interest because of their biomechanical compatibility. An important feature of deformable conductors is their electrical response to strain. While development of stretchable materials with high gauge fac ...

A novel fabrication method based on controlled fluid re-arrangement of thin amorphous optical glass film is leveraged to realize two large-area photonics metasurfaces: 1) a highly directional nanoantenna array (metareflector), and 2) a metagrating for inde ...
