Background Evidence pointing to a synergistic effect of stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) with concurrent immunotherapy or targeted therapy in patients with melanoma brain metastases (BM) is increasing. We aimed to analyze the effect on overall survival (OS) ...

Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are a heterogeneous group of diseases, with a variable probability of transformation into acute leukemia, which is, in the vast majority of cases, of myeloid lineage. Nevertheless, rare cases of acute lymphoblastic leukemia ...

The cell cycle is a fundamental process in eukaryotic biology and is accordingly controlled by a highly conserved core signaling cascade. However, whether recently evolved proteins also influence this process is unclear. Here, we systematically map the inf ...

Heterochromatin loss and genetic instability enhance cancer progression by favoring clonal diversity, yet uncontrolled replicative stress leads to mitotic catastrophe and inflammatory responses that promote immune rejection. KRAB domain-containing zinc fin ...

Acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) represents the rejection of the recipient's skin, gut, and liver tissues of an allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) by the donor T cells. The onset of aGVHD is often rapid and its evolution is un ...

Immune-checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), including anti-cytotoxic T lymphocyte antigen 4 (CTLA-4), anti-programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) and anti-programmed cell death 1 ligand 1 (PD-L1) antibodies, are arguably the most important development in cancer therapy o ...

Immune checkpoint inhibition (ICI) became one of the major breakthroughs in cancer treatment over the past decade and entered into therapy within standard oncohematology practice. ICI has demonstrated impressive response rates as salvage therapy in relapse ...

Genomic instability enhances cancer progression by favoring clonal diversity, yet uncontrolled replicative stress can lead to mitotic catastrophe and inflammatory responses promoting immune rejection. KRAB-containing zinc finger proteins (KZFPs) are epigen ...

ZNF93 is a primate-restricted Krüppel-associated box zinc finger protein responsible for repressing 20- to 12-My-old L1 transposable elements. Here, we reveal that ZNF93 also regulates the key cancer driver APOBEC3B—a mutagenic enzyme linked to tumorigenes ...

The pancreas is an essential organ present in all vertebrates, and human pancreatic agenesis is an extremely rare disorder of largely unknown genetic determinants. A study now demonstrates that a primate-specific regulatory network controlled by the KRAB z ...

We present an interesting image of a painless growing mass of the right arm in a 76-year-old man. A musculoskeletal MRI of the right arm showed a 7.5 x 3-cm homogeneous, well-defined mass, elongated along the course of muscle fascias and independent of the ...
