Multi-echo T-2 magnetic resonance images contain information about the distribution of T-2 relaxation times of compartmentalized water, from which we can estimate relevant brain tissue properties such as the myelin water fraction (MWF). Regularized non-neg ...

Quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (qMRI) can increase the specificity and sensitivity of conventional weighted MRI to underlying pathology by comparing meaningful physical or chemical parameters, measured in physical units, with normative values acqu ...

Purpose: Although clinical 7T MRI offers various advantages compared to lower field strengths, achieving spatially uniform flip angle distributions remains a challenge. Sampling Perfection with Application optimized Contrast using different flip angle Evol ...

Machine learning has become the state of the art for the solution of the diverse inverse problems arising from computer vision and medical imaging, e.g. denoising, super-resolution, de-blurring, reconstruction from scanner data, quantitative magnetic reson ...

Recovering the distribution from multi-echo magnetic resonance (MR) signals is challenging but has high potential as it provides biomarkers characterizing the tissue micro-structure, such as the myelin water fraction (MWF). In this work, we propose to comb ...

This study introduces a Machine Learning (ML) approach for estimating the T2 spectrum and myelin water fraction (MWF) using multi-echo T2 (MET2) data from preclinical 7T Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanners. ML methods have shown promise in MWF estima ...

Diffusion MRI (DW-MRI) allows for the detailed exploration of the brain white matter microstructure, with applications in both research and the clinic. However, state-of-the-art methods for microstructure estimation suffer from known limitations, such as t ...

White matter bundle segmentation using diffusion MRI fiber tractography has become the method of choice to identify white matter fiber pathways in vivo in human brains. However, like other analyses of complex data, there is considerable variability in segm ...

Accurate characterization of in utero human brain maturation is critical as it involves complex and interconnected structural and functional processes that may influence health later in life. Magnetic resonance imaging is a powerful tool to investigate equ ...

Diffusion MRI (dMRI) of the developing brain can provide valuable insights into the white matter development. However, slice thickness in fetal dMRI is typically high (i.e., 3-5 mm) to freeze the in-plane motion, which reduces the sensitivity of the dMRI s ...

Super-resolution (SR) has traditionally been based on pairs of high-resolution images (HR) and their low-resolution (LR) counterparts obtained artificially with bicubic downsampling. However, in real-world SR, there is a large variety of realistic image de ...

Existing reference (RF)-based super-resolution (SR) models try to improve perceptual quality in SR under the assumption of the availability of high-resolution RF images paired with low-resolution (LR) inputs at testing. As the RF images should be similar i ...

Accurate characterization of in utero human brain maturation is critical as it involves complex interconnected structural and functional processes that may influence health later in life. Magnetic resonance imaging is a powerful tool complementary to the u ...

Limitations in the accuracy of brain pathways reconstructed by diffusion MRI (dMRI) tractography have received considerable attention. While the technical advances spearheaded by the Human Connectome Project (HCP) led to significant improvements in dMRI da ...

Background and objective: Compared to the conventional magnetization-prepared rapid gradient-echo imaging (MPRAGE) MRI sequence, the specialized magnetization prepared 2 rapid acquisition gradient echoes (MP2RAGE) shows a higher brain tissue and lesion con ...

We present a voxel-wise Bayesian multi-compartment T2 relaxometry fitting method based on Hamiltonian Markov Chain Monte Carlo (HMCMC) sampling. The T 2 spectrum is modeled as a mixture of truncated Gaussian components, which involves the estimation of par ...
