Electrochemical CO2 reduction (eCO2RR) towards value-added chemicals, powered by renewable electricity, is a promising technology for storing the intermittent renewable energy in the form of chemical bonds. Among the various products of eCO2RR, multi-carbo ...

Given the great concern about phosphorus (P) resource depletion, it's promising to recover P from waste activated sludge (WAS) especially for agricultural application. To this end, it's necessary to understand the P speciation and fractionation within the ...

We reveal that a significant amount (>30%) of the liquid products from electrochemical CO2 reduction (CO2RR) in a flow reactor can cross the gas diffusion electrode (GDE) and anion exchange membrane (AEM). Crossover of volatile products through the GDE occ ...

Multimetallic nanoparticles are of interest as functional materials due to their highly tunable properties. However, synthesizing congruent mixtures of immiscible components is limited by the need for high-temperature procedures followed by rapid quenching ...

Cu-catalyzed electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) to multi-carbon (C2+) products is often plagued by low selectivity because the adsorption energies of different reaction intermediates are in a linear scaling relationship. Development of Cu-based ...

The storage of renewable energy is crucial for the substitution of fossil fuels with renewable energy. Hydrogen is the first step in the conversion of electricity from renewable sources to an energy carrier. However, hydrogen is technically and economicall ...

The electrochemical reduction of CO2 to higher hydrocarbons is a very challenging process that has high potential for the storage of large amounts of renewable energy with a high gravimetric and volumetric energy density. The distribution of hydrocarbons f ...

CO-selective metals (e.g., Ag) on Cu catalysts improve the selec-tivity of multi-carbon (C2+) products in electrochemical CO2 reduc-tion. However, the origin of the improvement remains unclear due to the convolution of tandem and interface effects. Here, A ...

The electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2RR) has attracted enormous interest because of the energy crisis and climate change; however, more efficient catalysts are required for practical applications. Herein, we present electrospinning as a faci ...

The CO2/CO electroreduction reaction (CO2RR/CORR) to liquid products presents an enticing pathway to store intermittent renewable electricity. However, the selectivity for desirable high-value C3 products, such as n-propanol, remains unsatisfactory in the ...

The electrochemical conversion of CO 2 into acetaldehyde offers a sustainable and green alternative to the Wacker process. However, current electrocatalysts cannot effectively compete with heterogeneous processes owing to their limited selectivity towards ...

While metal-organic frameworks (MOF) alone offer a wide range of structural tunability, the formation of composites, through the introduction of other non-native species, like polymers, can further broaden their structure/property spectrum. Here we demonst ...
