Manuel is a PhD Candidate at EPFL in the group of Prof. Zoë Holmes, where he focuses on the numerical simulation of quantum computers. Together with his collaborators, he studies which properties make quantum circuits easy or hard to simulate classically, and how efficient classical simulability is connected to the barren plateau phenomenon. Manuel develops high-performance quantum simulation software and is
Zoë HolmesTeaching & PhD PhD Students Ricard Puig, Sacha Lerch, Reyhaneh Aghaei Saem, Shao Hen Chiew, Weijie Xiong, Marc Sanz Drudis, Mehrad Sahebi, Manuel Rudolph Courses Quantum information theory PHYS-550 After recapping the basics of quantum theory from an informationtheoretic perspective, we will cover more advanced topics inquantum information theory. This includes introducing measures of quantum information, and developing a more advanced understanding quantum states, channels and measurement
Myrto LimniosTeaching & PhD Courses Empirical processes MATH-522 We learn how to control the nonasymptotic and random behavior of collections of estimators, when indexed by classes of functions/sets. Examples range from prototypical estimators used by statisticians, to nonparametric models used in machine learning. Regression methods MATH-408 General graduate course on regression methods

Keivan is a PhD student at école Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). He joined the Intelligent Maintenance and Operations Systems (IMOS) Lab under the supervision of Prof. Olga Fink in February 2023.Prior to joining EPFL, he obtained his master's degree from the Institute of Communications Engineering, College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, National Tsing Hua Univer
Andrei ArdeleanAndrei Ardelean received the B.Sc. degree in Electronics from "Politehnica" University of Timisoara, Timisoara, Romania, in 2015, and the M.Sc. degree in Microelectronics from the Delft University of Technology, Delft, Netherlands, in 2017. He is currently working towards his Ph.D. in the AQUA Laboratory at EPFL. His main research interests are single-photon counting time-correlated image sensors for real time phasor-based fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy.
Kai RenKai Ren received his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Victoria, and his Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of British Columbia, Canada. His research interest is the safe motion planning of autonomous systems in uncertain and dynamic environments. His master's thesis investigated a safe and risk-aware Model Predictive Control framework under multimodal environmental uncertainties. Education M.ASc | Electrical and Computer Enginee
