The increasing penetration of intermittent distributed energy resources in power networks calls for novel planning and control methodologies which hinge on detailed knowledge of the grid. However, reliable information concerning the system topology and par ...

The increasing integration of renewable energy requires a good model of the existing power distribution infrastructure, represented by its admittance matrix. However, a reliable estimate may either be missing or quickly become obsolete, as distribution gri ...

In this work, we propose a supervisory control structure in islanded DC microgrids such that a well scheduled and balanced utilization of various resources is achieved. Our supervisory control layer rests on top of a voltage-controlled primary layer and co ...

This work presents new secondary regulators for current sharing and voltage balancing in DC microgrids, composed of distributed generation units, dynamic RLC lines, and nonlinear ZIP (constant impedance, constant current, and constant power) loads. The pro ...

The primary objective of this doctoral thesis is the design and development of hierarchical control schemes for the overall operation and control of Islanded mGs (ImGs) with flexible structuresâ or, with no reference topologies. The control methodologies ...

In this paper, we consider the problem of overvoltage arising in PV residential microgrids due to excessive power injection into the grid by the PV generators. We propose a decentralized switched controller to curtail excess active power in order to avoid ...

The paper considers the problem of detecting cyber-attacks occurring in communication networks typically used in the secondary control layer of DC microgrids. The proposed distributed methodology allows for scalable monitoring of a microgrid and is able to ...

This paper investigates the application of passivity-based nonlinear control to the problem of primary voltage stabilization in medium-voltage DC microgrids (MVDC mGs) given by the interconnection of nonlinear distributed generation units (DGUs) and power ...

In this paper, we investigate the stability of an islanded AC microgrid (ImG) composed of Distributed generation units (DGUs), dynamic power lines, and loads. Each DGU is equipped with a local controller to ensure desired voltage and frequency in the ImG. ...

Voltage and frequency control in an islanded ac microgrid (ImG) amounts to stabilizing an a priori unknown ImG equilibrium induced by loads and changes in topology. This article puts forth a unified control framework, which, while guaranteeing such stabili ...

We consider the application of passivity theory to the problem of voltage stabilization in DC microgrids (DCmGs) given by the interconnection of Distributed Generation Units (DGUs), dynamic RL lines, and loads. We first provide a novel result on stable int ...

We consider the application of passivity theory to the problem of voltage stabilization in DC microgrids, which are composed of distributed generation units, dynamic RLC lines, and nonlinear ZIP (constant impedance, constant current, and constant power) lo ...

The increasing integration of intermittent renewable generation, especially at the distribution level, necessitates advanced planning and optimisation methodologies contingent on the knowledge of the admittance matrix, capturing the topology and line param ...
