Tugrulcan Elmas

I am a Ph.D. candidate in Distributed Information Systems Lab (LSIR) at EPFL under supervision of Prof. Karl Aberer. My main research focused on analysing social media manipulation which includes building algorithms to detect bots and other kind of malicious accounts on social media platforms and analyze their behaviours. I am also interested in analysing polarized topics on social media that may be subject to social media manipulation; what opinions circulate around such topics, if social media users are polarized around certain opinions and developing computational methods to reduce such polarization.
