Aryan Rezaei Rad is a structural (and earthquake) engineer and postdoctoral researcher at the laboratory for timber construction (IBOIS). Aryan studied Earthquake Engineering at Tehran Polytechnic, and Structural Engineering at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, where he earned his PhD in 2020 under the direction of Prof. Dr. Yves Weinand and Prof. Dr. Henry Burton.Aryan's areas of expertise include computer-aided engineering, numerical simulations and Finite Element analysis, nonlinear structural analysis, computer programming, structural dynamics, risk-based (probabilistic) performance assessment, and experimental testing. Aryan has also experienced graduate research assistantship studying the collapse performance of Los Angeles woodframe structures under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Henry Burton at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA).
