Most present-day resonant systems, throughout physics and engineering, are characterized by a strict time-reversal symmetry between the rates of energy coupled in and out of the system, which leads to a trade-off between how long a wave can be stored in th ...

The ability to process optical signals without passing into the electrical domain has always attracted the attention of the research community. Processing photons by photons unfolds new scenarios, in principle allowing for unseen signal processing and comp ...

We present a Nyquist pulse generation technique based on a single Mach-Zehnder modulator driven by a multi-harmonic electrical signal. The direct control of the RF components yields a range of 10 GHz sinc-shaped pulse train. ...

We propose a novel scheme of temporal Talbot effect achieving optical pulse train repetition-rate multiplication in a conventional tapped delay line structure. While it is generally used for spectral amplitude filtering, we show that such architecture coul ...

We demonstrate reconfigurable sinc-shaped RF photonic filters based on rectangular optical frequency comb synthesized from cascaded modulators. Simplicity of the approach and flexibility in bandwidth for fixed free-spectral-range is shown. Phase response i ...

This paper provides an overview of the activities on GEO Optical Feeder Links at Viasat Inc. In the last decade, laser communication has emerged as a promising technology for advancing the performance of high-capacity satellites and enhancing the security ...
