We demonstrate for the first time azimuthal Talbot effect based on orbital angular momentum beams. The intensity petal is self-imaged in the azimuthal angle. We also draw the analogy between azimuthal and temporal Talbot effect. ...

We demonstrate mid-infrared supercontinuum generation in an all-normal dispersion Chalcogenide PCF pumped by fiber laser. The -20dB bandwidth is 1.7~2.7μm dominated by self-phase modulation and optical wave breaking. Tapering is proposed to improve perform ...

Arrayed Waveguide Gratings (AWGs) are ubiquitous and efficient photonic devices used to split and combine different wavelengths of light. They have been widely used as (de)-multiplexer for wavelength division multiplexed optical communication systems, and ...

We present a precise and flexible Sinc-shaped Nyquist pulse source based on a single Mach-Zehnder modulator. The use of multi-harmonic RF signals provides direct control on the Nyquist pulse train generation. The variable comb source is demonstrated by sel ...

The rapidly maturing integrated Kerr microcombs show significant potential for microwave photonics. Yet, state-of-the-art microcomb-based radiofrequency filters have required programmable pulse shapers, which inevitably increase the system cost, footprint, ...

We demonstrate reconfigurable microwave photonic filters based on two-soliton microcombs. The filter passbands can be reconfigured inherently via the various angles between two solitons of microresonator, without involving programmable pulse shapers. (C) 2 ...

We present a cost-effective electro-optic frequency comb generation and equalization method using a single phase modulator inserted in a Sagnac interferometer layout. The equalization relies on the interference of comb lines generated in both clockwise and ...

We show how spatiotemporal quasi-phase-matching emerges from all-optical poling of silicon nitride microresonators. Enabled by the coherent photogalvanic effect, the photoinduced χ(2) grating oscillates in space and time, yielding quasi-phase-matched and D ...

We propose and compare add-drop multiplexing schemes for Nyquist OTDM signals based on 1 x2 or 2 x2 Mach-Zehnder modulator. Bright and dark sinc pulse carver simultaneously provided by the modulator fulfil drop, notch and add functions. ...

We propose a novel scheme of temporal Talbot effect achieving optical pulse train repetition-rate multiplication in a conventional tapped delay line structure. While it is generally used for spectral amplitude filtering, we show that such architecture coul ...

We demonstrate reconfigurable sinc-shaped RF photonic filters based on rectangular optical frequency comb synthesized from cascaded modulators. Simplicity of the approach and flexibility in bandwidth for fixed free-spectral-range is shown. Phase response i ...

A highly polarized Ho-doped truly all-fibre laser was demonstrated without in-cavity polarizer. Utilizing PM-FBG and loop mirror, maximum 0.5W output power with 30% slope efficiency, 70dB ASE suppression and 99.997% degree of polarization was recorded at 2 ...

Orbital angular momentum (OAM) spectrum diagnosis is a fundamental building block for diverse OAM-based systems. Among others, the simple on-axis interferometric measurement can retrieve the amplitude and phase information of complex OAM spectra in a few s ...

The Talbot effect is a self-imaging phenomenon of periodic waves. In the last decades, the understanding of the self-imaging effect has been diversified to different degrees of freedom of different types of waves, highlighting its very general nature. Esse ...

We review recent progress of the microcomb-based RF photonic filters, and discuss the direct synthesis of reconfigurable RF photonic filters leveraging the rich soliton states in microresonators. (C) 2020 The Author(s) ...
