Oral cancer poses a serious threat worldwide owing to its soaring case-fatality rate and its metastatic characteristics of spreading to the other parts of the body. Despite the recent breakthroughs in biomedical sciences, the detection of oral cancer at an ...

Power-to-methane technology has been considered as a promising alternative to cope with seasonal storage of renewable energy and the utilization of CO2 captured from various sources, due to the existing infrastructure for massive methane storage and distri ...

The purpose of this paper is to assess techno-economically the integration of solid-oxide electrolysis in biomass-to-methanol processes: (1) The hydrogen produced by electrolysis can be used to adjust the composition of syngas from gasification to increase ...

The global demand for fossil fuels in the transportation sector is increasing rapidly due to the continuous growth of internal combustion engine vehicles. This leads to severe environmental problems, including greenhouse gas emissions and air-quality deter ...

The large market penetration of non-dispatchable renewable power sources (vRES), i.e., wind and photovoltaic, may be hampered by an increasing need for large scale energy storage capacity and the challenges of balancing the power grid. Novel technologies i ...

Diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS) investigations of molecules at the surface of catalysts exhibit a strong overlap of the adsorption peaks. Therefore, the investigation of the CO2 hydrogenation on a highly active catalyst ...

Energy storage systems are important for dealing with the fluctuation of renewable energies in course of their increasing penetration into the energy market. Small-scale compressed air energy storage (CAES) with artificial air vessels can improve the suppl ...

The performance of a direct air-cooling condenser under operation is rather complicated, as it is interactively affected by the operating conditions (e.g., the mode of air fans) and ambient conditions (e.g., temperature and wind speed). To understand the c ...

To reduce the fossil-fuel consumption and the impacts of conventional ammonia production on climate change, green ammonia production processes using green hydrogen need to be investigated. For commercial production scale, potential alternatives can be base ...
