Spinal cord injury (SCI) induces haemodynamic instability that threatens survival(1-3), impairs neurological recovery(4,5), increases the risk of cardiovascular disease(6,7), and reduces quality of life(8,9). Haemodynamic instability in this context is due ...

Epidural electrical stimulation (EES) targeting the dorsal roots of lumbosacral segments restores walking in people with spinal cord injury (SCI). However, EES is delivered with multielectrode paddle leads that were originally designed to target the dorsal ...

A spinal cord injury interrupts pathways from the brain and brainstem that project to the lumbar spinal cord, leading to paralysis. Here we show that spatiotemporal epidural electrical stimulation (EES) of the lumbar spinal cord(1-3) applied during neurore ...

Rehabilitation robotics aims to promote activity-dependent reorganization of the nervous system. However, people with paralysis cannot generate sufficient activity during robot-assisted rehabilitation and, consequently, do not benefit from these therapies. ...

The present invention relates to a system for planning and/or providing neuromodulation (10), especially neurostimulation, comprising: - first data input module (26) for stimulation related basic data, - a stimulation related basic data storage module (28) ...

The present invention relates to a system (10) for planning and/or providing neurostimulation for a patient, comprising: - a pathological spinal cord map storage module (48) for storing at least one pathological spinal cord map (49) describing the activati ...

The present invention relates to a neuromodulation/neurostimulation system (10) for the treatment of spasticity in a mammal, said system (10) comprising: - at least one control unit (12) configured and arranged to provide stimulation data, and - at least o ...

Methods and systems are provided for triggering electrical stimulation of a spinal cord during execution of a motor event. In one example, a method comprises monitoring motor cortex activity while execution of a desired motor movement is attempted during a ...

Intraoperative electrocorticography (ECoG) captures neural information from the surface of the cerebral cortex during surgeries such as resections for intractable epilepsy and tumors. Current clinical ECoG grids come in evenly spaced, millimeter-sized elec ...

The present invention relates system for planning and/or providing neuromodulation (10), especially neurostimulation, comprising - a neurostimulator (24) comprising a least one electrode (22), - functional mapping module (38) configured and arranged such t ...

Long-term biointegration of man-made neural interfaces is influenced by the mechanical properties of the implant materials. Substantial experimental work currently aims at replacing conventional hard implant materials with soft alternatives that can favour ...

Epidural electrical stimulation (EES) of the spinal cord restores locomotion in animal models of spinal cord injury but is less effective in humans. Here we hypothesized that this interspecies discrepancy is due to interference between EES and propriocepti ...

The present invention relates to systems and methods for planning and/or providing neuromodulation One example system includesa stimulation related basic data storage module for storing stimulation related basic data,a stimulation related response data sto ...
