Many molecule bonds have vibration frequencies in the mid-infrared band. Thus, this band is of great interest to molecular spectroscopy, material processing and medical applications. However, many optical materials typically used for laser sources experien ...

We experimentally demonstrate wavelength conversion in the 2 μm region by four-wave mixing in an AsSe and a GeAsSe chalcogenide photonic crystal fibers. A maximum conversion efficiency of −25.4 dB is measured for 112 mW of coupled continuous wave pump in a ...

We observe fiber fuse in tapered GeAsSe photonic crystal fibers (PCF) at around 7 MW∕cm2 of intra-core intensity. Vertically cleaved facets from the un-tapered regions and the tapered regions were imaged. The images show shallow voids of different shapes c ...

We demonstrate mid-infrared supercontinuum generation in an all-normal dispersion Chalcogenide PCF pumped by fiber laser. The -20dB bandwidth is 1.7~2.7μm dominated by self-phase modulation and optical wave breaking. Tapering is proposed to improve perform ...

Group-velocity dispersion of birefringent GeAsSe tapered PCF is directly measured over 1900-2300nm range using all-fiber Mach-Zehnder interferometer. We experimentally prove that zero-dispersion wavelength of chalcogenide PCFs can be shifted to thulium/hol ...

We demonstrate parametric amplification around 2 μm in a dispersion engineered tapered microstructured chalcogenide fiber. Almost 5 dB of signal amplification was achieved by 125 mW coupled power from a thulium-doped fiber pump laser. ...

We present the first demonstration of continuous-wave four-wave mixing at 2μm in short chalcogenide microstructured fiber. Idlers over approximately 15nm on anti-Stokes side of the pump were measured for a coupled pump power of 94mW. ...

We demonstrate the generation of high-brightness supercontinuum inside thuliumdoped fiber amplifier in 1950-2450nm spectral range with 1.7W output power and 32% slope efficiency, seeded by tunable 2000nm mode-locked laser and assisted by 3H4-3H5/3F4-3H6 th ...

The persistent growth of interest in the middle infrared (MIR) is stimulating the development of sources and components. Novel waveguides and fibers for the efficient use of nonlinear effects in the MIR are being intensively studied. Highly nonlinear silic ...
