This thesis develops optimization-based techniques for the control of distributed energy resources to provide multiple services to the power network. It is divided into three parts. The first part of this thesis focuses on the development of a framework f ...

In this paper, the problem of dispatching the operation of a distribution feeder comprising a set of heterogeneous resources is investigated. The main objective is to track a power trajectory, called the dispatch plan, which is computed the day before the ...

This paper investigates the potential of commercial buildings to offer ancillary services to the grid. We consider a tracking procurement inspired by secondary frequency control, where the resource needs to commit to a nominal consumption profile ahead of ...

The present invention concerns a method of controlling a set of electrical power resources in an electrical power grid managed by a power grid operator. The set comprises a first electrical power resource with a first electrical power response frequency an ...

This paper presents a predictive control scheme for coordinating a set of heterogeneous and complementary resources at different time scales for the provision of ancillary services. In particular, we combine building thermodynamics (slow), and energy stora ...

In this paper, the problem of dispatching the operation of a distribution feeder comprising a set of heterogeneous resources is investigated. In particular, the main objective is to track a 5-minute resolution trajectory, called the \textit{dispatch plan} ...

This paper deals with stochastic model predictive control of constrained discrete-time periodic linear systems. Control inputs are subject to periodically time-varying polytopic constraints with possibly time-dependent state and input dimensions. A stochas ...

Frequency control reserves are a fundamental mechanism in the current electric power system to preserve the balance between demand and generation of active power at all times. The traditional approach is to exploit conventional power plants for frequency r ...
