A closed-loop servo control based on the gain ratio of two probing frequencies is proposed for fast BOTDA, where the feedback is independent of probe and pump loss, making it robust in harsh environment. ...

In this paper, a long-distance distributed pressure sensing system based on a special fiber and using frequency-scanned phase-sensitive optical time-domain reflectometry is proposed. The fiber shows high pressure sensitivity (159 MHz/bar) and low loss (3 d ...

The robustness of bipolar pulse coding against pump depletion issues in Brillouin distributed fiber sensors is theoretically and experimentally investigated. The presented analysis points out that the effectiveness of bipolar coding in Brillouin sensing ca ...

The performance of unipolar unicolor coded Brillouin optical time-domain analysis (BOTDA) is thoroughly studied, providing quantitative guidelines to design a distortion-free coded BOTDA system operating at maximum signal-to-noise ratio. ...

This paper presents the measurement accuracy of a phase-sensitive optical time-domain reflectometer (ϕ-OTDR) as a function of SNR and pulse width. A method to determine the absolute SNR of a ϕ-OTDR system is also proposed. ...

A distributed fiber sensor based on a differential chirped-pulse pair Brillouin optical time domain analysis (DCPBOTDA) is proposed for sub-meter spatial resolution sensing. The technique is based on the subtraction of two measurements made with the same p ...
