A system for wireless power transfer and data communication of implantable bio-monitoring systems is presented. The proposed solution uses a servo-controlled power transmitter moved under the animal moving space. An x-y movable magnetic coil transmits the ...

Medical Internet of Things (IoT) solutions are already paving the way towards the realization of Smart Hospitals. Following this trend, we propose an IoT cloud-based network for anesthesia on-line monitoring. This architecture allows the anesthesiologist t ...

After a failure of "One-Size-Fits-All" approach on traditional treatment of diseases, the age of multi-faceted personalized medicine came into being for tailoring therapy to get the best response in the highest safety margin. Personalized drug dosage is on ...

The design, realization, and preliminary test of a portable wireless system for measuring key metabolites (e.g., glucose, lactate, calcium, potassium, etc..) in intensive cure monitoring is presented. The system is composed by a 3D-Printed case, which incl ...

Protein electrochemistry represents a powerful technique for investigating the function and structure of proteins. Currently available biochemical assays provide limited information related to the conformational state of proteins and high costs. This work ...

In this paper, we present the design, the implementation and the validation of a novel Internet of Things (IoT) drug monitoring system for the online continuous and simultaneous detection of two main anesthetics, e.g., propofol and paracetamol, in undilute ...

Monitoring patients in intensive care units is generally expensive and time consuming. A prompter medical intervention for those critical patients is a key factor for their safety. Therefore, a system that offers immediate visualization of the monitored da ...

A full remotely powered system for metabolism monitoring of free-moving mice is presented here. The fully implantable sensing platform hosts two ASICs, one off-the-shelf micro-controller, four biosensors, two other sensors, a coil to receive power, and an ...

The fast widening of biosensing applications, such as healthcare, drug delivery, food, and military industries, is increasing the need for generality and compatibility among different sensors. To address this challenge, we present here an innovative approa ...

Medical cyber-physical systems are a new trend of software controlled physical systems that are increasingly common in medical domains. With rapid developments in medical science and computer technology, safety verification and simulation becomes more chal ...

Monitoring of patient response to the anaesthetic drugs is an attractive improvement for achieving a correct balance of sedation level, increasing the chance of success in the right procedure of anaesthesia. Nowadays, there are no commercial tools able to ...

The design, realization and verification of a system for personalized rehabilitation of Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) patients are here presented. It consists of two main parts: (i) one induces in the patient the physiotherapic movement proposed by the trainer ...

Connected medical devices are already paving the way towards the realization of Smart Hospitals where patient care is improved thanks to Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. Following this trend, in this paper we propose an IoT cloud-based network for anest ...

This work presents the design and the realization of a flexible front-end circuitry for electrochemical sensing with wearable devices. The hardware combines readout circuitry for amperometric and Open Circuit Potential (OCP) measurements. The sensing platf ...

In this work, we present a novel electrochemical cleaning procedure for long-term electrochemical monitoring of propofol by using boron-doped diamond (BDD) and pencil graphite electrode (PGE). Propofol is an anesthetic that is widely used for long-lasting ...

Induction of anesthesia with propofol is a largely adopted technique in hospital environments. The correct dosage of this compound is essential to avoid under- or over-anesthesia that may result in serious side-effects. Therefore, in clinical settings, lon ...

Nowadays, there is an immense interest regarding new bio-sensing technologies, highlighting the need for effective validation of their capabilities. This necessity is more crucial when examining the proprieties of a sensor for continuous monitoring of a co ...

Wearable devices, e.g. smart-watches, are gaining popularity in many fields and in wellness monitoring too. In this paper we propose an IoT application to alert the medical doctor assigned to a critical unit by using a smart-watch. The wearable device impr ...

A Pencil Graphite Electrode (PGE) is herein disclosed. The electrode is characterized by a reduced content in graphite and an increased content in clay of the composite material composing it compared to the prior art PGEs. In particular, the PGE according ...
