This dissertation covers both experimental and numerical neutronics studies to evaluate the adequacy of the Serpent/PARCS code sequence for modeling the steady-state and kinetics behavior of the CROCUS reactor. The reactor presents design characteristics t ...

The present article gives an overview of the first experimental campaigns carried out in the AKR-2 and CROCUS reactors within the framework of the Horizon 2020 European project CORTEX. CORTEX aims at developing innovative core monitoring techniques that al ...

This paper summarizes the results of modeling methodologies developed for the zero-power (100 W) teaching and research reactor CROCUS located in the Laboratory for Reactor Physics and Systems Behavior (LRS) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in L ...

CROCUS is a zero power (100 W) reactor of the Laboratory for Reactor Physics and Systems Behavior (LRS) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne (EPFL). It is used for teaching and research purposes. Its modeling has relied so far on diffusio ...

This paper reports the methodology used for the neutronic modelling of the CROCUS reactor and discusses the challenges encountered during the process. Full-core steady-state neutronics solutions were computed with the PARCS code. The Serpent Monte Carlo co ...

We present the experimental campaigns – namely, three per facility – carried out between 2018 and 2021 in the AKR–2 and CROCUS zero power reactors within the framework of the Horizon 2020 European project CORTEX. Their purpose was to produce high-quality a ...

In order to analyze the steady state and transient behavior of the CROCUS reactor, several methods and models need to be developed in the areas of reactor physics, thermal-hydraulics, and multiphysics coupling. The long-term objectives of this project are ...

In this paper we present the methodology developed to analyze the detector response of neutron noise experiments performed at EPFL CROCUS and TUD AKR-2 reactors in the framework of the H2020 CORTEX project. The noise, or modulation, is induced by controlle ...
