Purpose: In vivo myelin quantification can provide valuable noninvasive information on neuronal maturation and development, as well as insights into neurological disorders. Multiexponential analysis of multiecho T-2 relaxation is a powerful and widely appl ...

We study a generalization of Wyner’s Common Information to Watanabe’s Total Correlation. The first minimizes the description size required for a variable that can make two other random variables conditionally independent. If independence is unattainable, W ...

A source produces i.i.d. vector samples from a Gaussian distribution, but the user is interested in only one component. In the cache phase, not knowing which component the user is interested in, a first compressed description is produced. Upon learning the ...

We study a caching problem that resembles a lossy Gray–Wyner network: A source produces vector samples from a Gaussian distribution, but the user is interested in the samples of only one component. The encoder first sends a cache message without any knowle ...

Caching is technique that alleviates networks during peak hours by transmitting partial information before a request for any is made. We study this method in a lossy source coding setting with Gaussian databases. A good caching strategy minimizes the data ...

Relatively low travel costs and abundant opportunities for research funding in Switzerland and other developed countries allow researchers large amounts of international travel and collaborations, leading to a substantial carbon footprint. Increasing willi ...

Successive refinement is a technique to encode a source iteratively, improving the distortion at each step. If the code rates of all steps combined can be as efficient as coding only for the final distortion in one go, then the source is said to be success ...

Communication technology has advanced up to a point where children are getting unfamiliar with themost iconic symbol in IT: the loading icon. We no longer wait for something to come on TV, nor for a download to complete. All the content we desire is availa ...
