Soft electronics have recently gathered considerable interest because of their biomechanical compatibility. An important feature of deformable conductors is their electrical response to strain. While development of stretchable materials with high gauge fac ...

Dielectric metasurfaces require the integration of large index contrast materials with accurate control over position and size for high optical efficiency. Their fabrication usually relies on well-established lithographic techniques. While lithography bear ...

A novel fabrication method based on controlled fluid re-arrangement of thin amorphous optical glass film is leveraged to realize two large-area photonics metasurfaces: 1) a highly directional nanoantenna array (metareflector), and 2) a metagrating for inde ...

Biodegradable polymers are increasingly employed at the heart of therapeutic devices. Particularly in the form of thin and elongated fibers, they offer an effective strategy for controlled release in a variety of biomedical configurations such as sutures, ...

Stretchable optical and electronic fibers constitute increasingly important building blocks for a myriad of applications, particularly in robotics, soft prosthesis, surgical tools and implants, and smart medical textiles. The integration of multi-material ...

Fibers that harvest mechanical energy via the triboelectric effect are excellent candidates aspower sources for wearable electronics and functional textiles. Thus far however, their fab-rication remains complex, and exhibited performances are below the sta ...

We establish a facile and robust approach to integrate high-performance monocrystalline semiconducting nanowire-based optoelectronic devices at optical fiber tips. The multi-functional fibers exhibit excellent optical and optoelectronic properties, leading ...

The present invention and its embodiments propose a simple, unique, and scalable method for producing extremely long, highly uniform, and well-ordered micro- and nanoscale metallic glasses via thermal drawing the method comprising at least the steps of pre ...

We propose for the first time template-assisted dewetting of high-index chalcogenide glasses for low-cost manufacturing of all-dielectric metasurfaces on large-area flexible and stretchable substrates. ...

A method of manufacturing a fibre comprising a lined channel, using a draw apparatus, the method comprising: providing a preform, comprising a channel extending through the preform, to the draw apparatus; feeding a liner into the channel; heating a portion ...

The present invention concerns a thermal drawing method for forming fibers, wherein said fibers are made at least from a stretchable polymer. The present invention also concerns drawn fibers made by the process. ...

Nowadays, bioelectronic devices are evolving from rigid to flexible materials and substrates, among which thermally-drawn-fiber-based bioelectronics represent promising technologies thanks to their inherent flexibility and seamless integration of multi-fun ...

The present invention concerns an elongated capacitive sensor (1) for fluid monitoring. The sensor (1) comprising: a fibre support (5) made of a dielectric material or dielectric composite material; and a first electrode (7, 9) and a second electrode (7, 9 ...

Self-assembled chalcogenide metasurfaces is proposed for low-cost manufacturing on large-area unconventional substrates. Programmed control over particle arrangement and periodicity yields strong Fano resonances, highlighting novel applications for bio-det ...

The selective and sensitive sensing of neurochemicals is essential to decipher in-brain chemistry underlying brain pathophysiology. The recent development of flexible and multifunctional polymer-based fibers has been shown useful in recording and modulatin ...

A method for manufacturing glass-based micro- and nanostructure comprising the step of dewetting a thin-film glass layer on a textured substrate to form the micro- and nanostructure from the thin-film glass layer. ...
