We experimentally demonstrate wavelength conversion in the 2 μm region by four-wave mixing in an AsSe and a GeAsSe chalcogenide photonic crystal fibers. A maximum conversion efficiency of −25.4 dB is measured for 112 mW of coupled continuous wave pump in a ...

This thesis presents results of a research on unidirectional isolator-free cavity lasers, exploiting thulium-doped fiber (TDF) as amplification medium and operating in \unit[2]{\mu m} wavelength range. For fibre ring resonator, an optical isolator should b ...

An unidirectional short-wave infrared fiber laser, comprising a theta cavity, with a gain unit based on rare-earth cations-doped fiber, the theta cavity having a ring cavity with two additional 2 input ports×2 output ports directional couplers DC1 and DC2 ...

We present a theoretical vectorial model, validated by experimental measurements, describing the dependence of the Figure-9 laser output power, operating in continuous wave, on the coupling ratio of the directional coupler. ...

We demonstrate 1.5W sub-picosecond pulsed source near 2μm. Cavity-less source is based on integrated association of 3rd order Raman wavelength-shifting and thulium amplification. Coherent spectrum of 61.5nm with 49% pump power conversion efficiency is achi ...

We observe fiber fuse in tapered GeAsSe photonic crystal fibers (PCF) at around 7 MW∕cm2 of intra-core intensity. Vertically cleaved facets from the un-tapered regions and the tapered regions were imaged. The images show shallow voids of different shapes c ...

The nonlinear coefficient and group velocity dispersion of a thulium-doped fiber near 2μm are evaluated via four-wave mixing. Nonlinearity of thulium-doped fiber can be used for the design of doped-fiber lasers in this spectral region. ...

We report the first demonstration of a unidirectional, isolator-free 2-mmthulium-doped fiber (TDF) laser, relying on the properties of the theta cavity (ring resonator with S-shaped feedback). The core pumped theta cavity TDF laser provides sub-Watt output ...

We demonstrate mid-infrared supercontinuum generation in an all-normal dispersion Chalcogenide PCF pumped by fiber laser. The -20dB bandwidth is 1.7~2.7μm dominated by self-phase modulation and optical wave breaking. Tapering is proposed to improve perform ...

Group-velocity dispersion, third-order dispersion and propagation losses of 14m normal dispersion ZBLAN fiber are directly and continuously measured over 1500-2100nm range using all-fiber Mach-Zehnder interferometer. The fiber is then used for dispersion c ...

Efficient second harmonic generation in integrated platforms is usually achieved by resonant structures, intermodal phase-matching or quasi-phase matching by periodically poling ferroelectric waveguides. However, in all these structures, it is impossible t ...

Group-velocity dispersion of birefringent GeAsSe tapered PCF is directly measured over 1900-2300nm range using all-fiber Mach-Zehnder interferometer. We experimentally prove that zero-dispersion wavelength of chalcogenide PCFs can be shifted to thulium/hol ...

We report more than 30dB second harmonic generation enhancement in SiN waveguide by all-optical writing of a persistent χ(2) grating. Phase matching peaks are observed for different writing wavelengths. ...

We demonstrate the hybrid-pumped (continuous-wave+pulsed) gain-switched smallcore thulium-doped fiber laser tunable in 1825-2064nm spectral range that delivers 50-300ns pulses with energies up to 12μJ (65μJ of injected pump) reaching performance of larger- ...

We demonstrate parametric amplification around 2 μm in a dispersion engineered tapered microstructured chalcogenide fiber. Almost 5 dB of signal amplification was achieved by 125 mW coupled power from a thulium-doped fiber pump laser. ...

We propose and compare add-drop multiplexing schemes for Nyquist OTDM signals based on 1 x2 or 2 x2 Mach-Zehnder modulator. Bright and dark sinc pulse carver simultaneously provided by the modulator fulfil drop, notch and add functions. ...

We present first all-fiber unidirectional ring thulium-doped laser, based on isolator-free theta cavity configuration and fiber Bragg mirror as filtering element. Laser provides 1W output power with 30% slope efficiency, and linewidth of about 0.2nm. ...

We present first dual-wavelength all-fiber laser, based on isolator-free theta cavity with two fiber Bragg mirrors and thulium- and holmium-doped fibers. Laser provides 350mW total power with 8% slope efficiency, and linewidth less than 01.mm. ...

A highly polarized Ho-doped truly all-fibre laser was demonstrated without in-cavity polarizer. Utilizing PM-FBG and loop mirror, maximum 0.5W output power with 30% slope efficiency, 70dB ASE suppression and 99.997% degree of polarization was recorded at 2 ...
