Michele CeriottiMichele Ceriotti received his Ph.D. in Physics from ETH Zürich in 2010. He spent three years in Oxford as a Junior Research Fellow at Merton College. Since 2013 he leads the laboratory for Computational Science and Modeling in the Institute of Materials at EPFL. His research revolves around the atomic-scale modelling of materials, based on the sampling of quantum and thermal fluctuations and on the use of machine learning to predict and rationalize structure-property relations. He has been awarded the IBM Research Forschungspreis in 2010, the Volker Heine Young Investigator Award in 2013, an ERC Starting Grant in 2016, and the IUPAP C10 Young Scientist Prize in 2018.
Elena VagnoniElena Vagnoni graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the Politecnico of Milan in 2013, and she obtained her PhD in Mechanics at EPFL in 2018. Since 2022 she is the head of research projects group at the EPFL Technology Platform for Hydraulic Machines. Before her current position, she was a research assistant fellow at Johns Hopkins University and a SNSF-fellow guest scientist at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. She is the Swiss expert for the Annex IX of the International Energy Agency

Dr. Jan Wienold is a leading expert in daylight research, visual comfort, and building performance simulation. His work focuses on understanding how daylight affects human perception and well-being, and on translating this knowledge into tools, metrics, and standards that shape climate-responsive and user-centered building design. He is internationally recognized for developing the Daylight Glare Probabi
Chen LiuI am a PhD candidate at the School of Computer and Communication Sciences (IC), École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), supervised by Prof. Sabine Süsstrunk and co-supervised by Dr. Mathieu Salzmann. Previously, I obtained my Master Degree from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in 2017 and Bachelor Degree from Tsinghua University in 2015, both in Computer Science.
Anna Timonina-FarkasAnna Timonina-Farkas is a scientific researcher in the field of Operations Research and Operations Management at TOM EPFL. Her focus is on theory and data-driven solution methods in multi-stage optimization under model and decision-dependent uncertainties. Before joining EPFL, she served as a Research Scholar at the Risk, Policy and Vulnerability program at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (Vienna, Austria), developing optimal governmental strategies for natural disaster risk-managem
Maria Giulia PretiMaria Giulia Preti received her Ph.D. in Bioengineering at Politecnico di Milano (Milan, Italy) in 2013, after her M. Sc. (2009) and B. Sc. (2007) in Biomedical Engineering, as well at Politecnico di Milano. During her Ph.D., mentored by Prof. Giuseppe Baselli, she focused on advanced techniques of brain magnetic resonance imaging, in particular she developed a method of groupwise fMRI-guided tractography, that revealed to be useful in the in-vivo investigation of the pathophysiological changes across the evolution of Alzheimers disease. For this project, she had been collaborating full-time with the hospital Fondazione Don Gnocchi in Milan (Magnetic Resonance Laboratory). In 2011, she was awarded a Progetto Rocca fellowship from MIT-Italy and spent a visiting research period at the MIT and Harvard Medical School (Boston, USA), under the supervision of Prof. Nikos Makris, where she could focus on the anatomical study of specific neruonal bundles.
She has joined Prof. Van De Ville group at EPFL as a post-doc in 2013. Her current research aims at understanding the connections between brain functionality and brain microscopic anatomy by using advanced techniques of Magnetic Resonance Imaging. In particular, she is working on functional MRI, functional connectivity, diffusion tensor imaging and tractography, integration of MRI with other techniques (e.g. EEG), and the application of these methods to several clinical contexts, e.g., epilepsy, Alzheimer's disease and mild cognitive impairment, multiple sclerosis, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Brice Tanguy Alphonse LecampionI am currently an assistant Professor and the head of the Geo-Energy Lab - Gaznat Chair on GeoEnergy at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland. Prior to joining EPFL, I have worked for Schlumberger in research and development from 2006 until May 2015 - serving in a variety of roles ranging from project manager to principal scientist in both Europe and the United States. I received my PhD in mechanics from Ecole Polytechnique, France in 2002 and worked as a research scientist in the hydraulic fracturing research group of CSIRO division of Petroleum resources (Melbourne, Australia) from 2003 to 2006. During my time in Schlumberger R&D, I have worked on problems related to the integrity of deep wells, large scale monitoring of reservoir deformation and more specifically on the stimulation of oil and gas wells by hydraulic fracturing. My current research interests cover hydraulic fracture mechanics, mechanics of porous media and dense suspensions flow.
