A power flow control system for an interconnected power system, the interconnected power system comprising a plurality of electrical subsystems; an abstract framework configured to work as a utility maximiser under constraints (that applies to the electric ...

We propose an optimal power flow method for multiphase power systems. The method works for both radial and meshed networks, and is able to accommodate different types of load/source connections such as wye, delta, and combination thereof. Moreover, the met ...

The conventional approach for the control of distribution networks, in the presence of active generationand/or controllable loads and storage, involves a combination of both frequency and voltage regulation atdifferent time scales. With the increased penet ...

Supercapacitors-based storage systems are expected to play a key role in microgrids in view of their capability to compensate high-power imbalances. We define an agent for the control of supercapacitor arrays within the context of the novel control framewo ...

This paper presents a systematic approach for abstracting the flexibility of a building space heating system and using it within a composable framework for real-time explicit power control of microgrids and, more in general, active distribution networks. I ...

The invention provides a method for coping with an unintentional islanding of an electrical distribution grid within a Commelec-type framework for the real-time control of micro-grids, of Resource Agents (RA) controlled by Grid Agents (GA), comprising at l ...

This paper focuses on the problem of controlling an ensemble of heterogeneous resources connected to an elec- trical grid at the same point of common coupling (PCC). The controller receives an aggregate power setpoint for the ensemble in real time and trac ...

Aggregation of electric resources is a fundamental function for the operation of power grids at different time scales. In the context of a recently proposed framework for the real-time control of microgrids with explicit power setpoints, we define and form ...

This paper considers unbalanced multiphase distribution systems with generic topology and different load models, and extends the Z-bus iterative load-flow algorithm based on a fixed-point interpretation of the AC load-flow equations. Explicit conditions fo ...

In this second part, we evaluate the performances of our control framework by applying it to a casestudy that contains a minimum set of elements allowing to show its applicability and potentials. Weshow how the computation of the PQt profiles, belief funct ...

We consider a microgrid with real-time control using explicit power-setpoints. Sudden power-steps, such as load disconnections or load in-rushes, directly affect the decisions of the microgrid controller that aims at avoiding voltage or line-ampacity viola ...

We propose a method to perform a safe unintentional islanding maneuver of microgrids. The method is derived in the context of a framework for the real-time control of microgrids, called Commelec, recently proposed by the authors. The framework uses a hiera ...

We present explicit sufficient conditions that guarantee the existence and uniqueness of the load-flow solution for distribution networks with a generic topology (radial or meshed) modeled with positive sequence equivalents. In the problem, we also account ...

We present sufficient conditions for the existence and uniqueness of load-flow solutions in three-phase distribution networks. The conditions can be efficiently verified for real distribution systems. ...
