The current regulatory framework in Europe regarding industrial energy consumption puts emphasis on regular energy assessments and increasing energy efficiency. Among the available strategies to identify energy savings opportunities, Total Site Analysis (T ...

Industrial plant data are difficult to find in academic literature for a number of reasons such as confidentiality, and thus intentional masking, or problem size reduction. These common practices limit the ability of researchers to apply novel methods to r ...

Steam is a key energy vector for industrial sites, most commonly used for process heating and cooling, cogeneration of heat and mechanical power as a motive fluid or for stripping. Steam networks are used to carry steam from producers to consumers and betw ...

TSA (total site analysis) has shown to be an efficient tool for identifying heat integration measures in industrial clusters, leading to the optimal design of utility systems and energy bill reduction. In order to justify investments, any proposed utility ...

The Energy Efficiency Directive (EED) 2012/27/EU published in October 2012, sets out new requirements for European Member States on energy efficiency, acting on the energy chain from its production to end- use consumption. While improvement of the industry ...

Steam is a key energy vector for industrial sites, used for process heating, direct injection and stripping, tracing and cogeneration of mechanical power. Steam networks transport steam from producers to consumers and across different pressure levels. The ...

Production data in process industry are proprietary to a company since they are key to the process design and technology expertise. However, data confidentiality restrains industry from sharing results and advancing developments in and across process secto ...

Steam networks and their utilities should be dimensioned to satisfy day-to-day demand as well peaks. Peaks can be caused by unit start-ups, extreme weather conditions or combinations of high demand from process units. During maintenance operations or unexp ...
