The impressive technological advances in genomic analysis and the significant drop in the cost of genome sequencing are paving the way to a variety of revolutionary applications in modern healthcare. In particular, the increasing understanding of the human ...

Personalised medicine can improve both public and individual health by providing targeted preventative and therapeutic healthcare. However, patient health data must be shared between institutions and across jurisdictions for the benefits of personalised me ...

The Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH) created the Beacon Project as a means of testing the willingness of data holders to share genetic data in the simplest technical context query for the presence of a specified nucleotide at a given positio ...

In this paper, we propose privacy-enhancing technologies for personal use of the genomic data and analyze the tradeoff between genomic privacy and storage cost of the genomes. First, we highlight the potential privacy threats on the genomic data. Then, foc ...

According to many scientists and clinicians, genomics is the "next big thing" in the field of medicine. On one hand, decreasing costs in genome sequencing has been paving the way to better preventive and personalized medicine. On the other hand, genomic da ...

Being able to share large amounts of sensitive clinical and genomic data across several institutions is crucial for precision medicine to scale up. Unfor- tunately, existing solutions only partially address this challenge and are still unable to provide th ...

Current solutions for privacy-preserving data sharing among multiple parties either depend on a centralized authority that must be trusted and provides only weakest-link security (e.g., the entity that manages private/secret cryptographic keys), or leverag ...

Medical studies are usually time consuming, cumbersome and extremely costly to perform, and for exploratory research, their results are also difficult to predict a priori. This is particularly the case for rare diseases, for which finding enough patients i ...

A method of sharing private and/or sensitive data from plurality of data providers to a data user, the data user having a private key and a public key, the method comprising the steps of providing a first data set and encrypting the first data set at a ter ...

Recently, several solutions have been proposed to address the complex challenge of protecting individuals’ genetic data during personalized medicine tests. In this short paper, we analyze different privacy threats and propose simple countermeasures for the ...

The academic community has proposed many solutions to address the privacy concerns associated with genomic-data sharing. However, practitioners have not adopted these solutions due to their impact on the data utility. To address this problem, we introduce ...

Re-use of patients’ health records can provide tremendous benefits for clinical research. One of the first essential steps for many research studies, such as clinical trials or population health studies, is to effectively identify, from electronic health r ...

In this paper, we propose privacy-enhancing technologies for medical tests and personalized medicine methods that use patients' genomic data. Focusing on genetic disease-susceptibility tests, we develop a new architecture (between the patient and the medic ...

Geneticists prefer to store patients’ aligned, raw genomic data, in addition to their variant calls (compact and summarized form of the raw data), mainly because of the immaturity of bioinformatic algorithms and sequencing platforms. Thus, we propose a pri ...

The biomedical community is lagging in the adoption of cloud computing for the management of medical data. The primary obstacles are concerns about privacy and security. In this paper, we explore the feasibility of using advanced privacy-enhancing technolo ...

The increasing number of health-data breaches is creating a complicated environment for medical-data sharing and, consequently, for medical progress. Therefore, the development of new solutions that can reassure clinical sites by enabling privacy-preservin ...

We propose privacy-enhancing technologies for medical tests and personalized medicine methods, which utilize patients’ genomic data. Focusing specifically on a typical disease-susceptibility test, we develop a new architecture (between the patient and the ...

The current trend towards personalized medicine creates an urgent need to share data among different hospitals and health institutions, which endangers the privacy of the data subjects if not done with the appropriate precautions. Conversely, the frequency ...

In this invention, we propose privacy-enhancing technologies for medical tests and personalized medicine methods, which utilize patients' genomic data. Assuming the whole genome sequencing is done by a certified institution, we propose to store patients' g ...

Existing approaches to sharing of distributed medical data either provide only limited protection of patients' privacy or sacrifice the accuracy of results. Here, the authors propose a federated analytics system, based on multiparty homomorphic encryption ...
