Despite significant advances in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, antiplatelet therapies are still associated with a high risk of hemorrhage. In order to develop new drugs, methods to measure platelet function must be adapted for the high-throughpu ...

Cardiotrophin-1 (CT-1) is associated with cardiovascular (CV) diseases. We investigated the effect of CT-1 deficiency in the development and progression of atherosclerosis in double knockout Apoe(-/-)ct-1(-/-) mice. Apoe(-/-) C57Bl/6 or Apoe(-/-)ct-1(-/-) ...

Background For a large proportion of patients with spinal cord injury, sexuality and reproduction are important issues. However, sparse data exist regarding available treatment options for this patient population. Objectives We sought to review performance ...

The use of medicinal plants as a therapy alternative is old as human existence itself. Nowadays, the search for effective molecules for chronic diseases treatments has increased. The cardiometabolic disorders still the main cause of death worldwide and pla ...

Systems and methods for monitoring penile tumescence are provided that overcome the drawbacks of previously known systems by providing a wearable formed of a flexible and elastic tube having a plurality of sensors disposed on or embedded within it, the wea ...

Background: Neurogenic erectile dysfunction (ED) following radical prostatectomy (RP) is a frequent complication often leading to erectile tissue remodeling and permanent ED. Low-intensity electrostimulation (LIES) has been shown to enhance peripheral nerv ...

It is well known that the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) plays a pivotal role in the pathophysiology of cardiovascular diseases. This is well illustrated by the great success of ACE inhibitors and angiotensin (Ang) II AT(1) blockers in the treatment of hyp ...

Shear stress is one of the major hemodynamic forces acting on the endothelium. However, it is not well known how endothelial cells (EC) respond mechanically to these stimuli in vivo. Here we investigated whether changes in biomechanics properties and shear ...

Systems and methods are provided for treating a sexual disorder such as erectile dysfunction (ED) or female sexual arousal disorder (FSAD). An electrical stimulation system may include an implantable stimulation unit, an external patient controller, and an ...

The renin-angiotensin system (RAS) is a key regulator of the cardiovascular system. Furthermore, clear compelling evidence indicates that this system is an essential modulator of penile erectile. Higher levels of angiotensin (Ang) II, the main component of ...

Introduction: Many studies have shown that electrostimulation of the cavernosal nerve can induce and maintain penile erection. Based on these discoveries, neurostimulation to activate the erectile response has been considered a potential solution to treat ...

MOSAIC is the Multi-Object Spectrograph for the ESO-ELT (European Southern Observatory-Extremely Large Telescope). The Laboratoire d'Astrophysique de Marseille (LAM) is in charge of the “Assembly, Integration, Test and Verification (AIT/V)” activities for ...
