The monitoring of existing infrastructure has the potential to improve structural-condition assessment, leading to better asset management. Monitoring data, collected through load testing, help identify unknown model-parameter values, and this model-updati ...

The reuse of structural components in new buildings has great potential to reduce the environmental impacts of the construction sector but remains uncommon practice. An obstacle to its wider implementation is the lack of robust assessment methods and decis ...

The development of Ultra-High Performance Fibre-Reinforced Cementitious Composite (UHPFRC) has enabled the design of lightweight constructions. Although the greenhouse gas emissions of UHPFRC per volume are higher than that of conventional concr ...

Ultra-High-Performance Fibre Reinforced Cementitious Composite (UHPFRC) provides solutions to enhance existing structures and design innovative new structures. Structural UHPFRC offers 3–5 times higher compressive and tensile strengths than ordinary concre ...

Ultra-High-Performance Fibre-Reinforced Cementitious Composite (UHPFRC) has been developed to design lightweight structures and enhance existing designs. As the environmental footprint of the construction industry must be significantly reduced, the potenti ...

As many bridges are approaching the end of their supposedly theoretical service duration, finding novel technical solutions to extend their service duration is crucial, also for reasons of sustainability. In this article, two strategies (structural perform ...

The visual inspection of existing infrastructure is a critical step for asset management, as the detection and quantification of damage must be useful to prioritise maintenance. In Switzerland, main inspections are made every five years for all road bridge ...

In 2020/21, the “Chaumény” footbridge was built in posttensioned UHPFRC over a railway line in the city of Montreux, Switzerland. UHPFRC stands for Ultra High Performance Fiber Reinforced Cementitious composite. UHPFRC shows high resistance both in tension ...

Ultra-High-Performance Fibre Reinforced Cementitious Composite (UHPFRC) has recently been used to design lightweight structures and strengthen existing ones, with more than 300 applications in Switzerland. Several composite timber-UHPFRC bridges have been ...

This paper presents the design and construction of the Aiguillon railway bridge in Switzerland, one of the first railway bridges completely made of Ultra-High-Performance Fiber-Reinforced Cementitious Composite (UHPFRC). The length and width of the trough ...

Le composite cimentaire fibré ultra performant (CFUP) est devenu populaire en Suisse pour la conception de structures légères et durables. Les éléments structuraux en CFUP armé sont étanches et ont une grande durabilité. En raison de sa composition unique, ...
