In the wide range of applications for power supplies, the ones dedicated to feeding superconducting magnets occupy a niche. This particular kind of magnets has the intrinsic property of having zero resistance, and is only used in high-end facilities for fu ...

This paper provides a detailed overview of the dielectric design and insulation coordination applied to a medium voltage modular multilevel converter prototype. The complete system has ratings of 0.5 MVA and is designed for connection to a 10 kVdc supply w ...

In a synchrotron accelerator, the beam trajectory is controlled thanks to magnets, where superconducting technology allows to generate very strong magnetic fields. This was a key element in the construction of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world lar ...

This paper describes the electro-thermal design of a medium voltage modular multilevel converter prototype, from the submodule power semiconductor thermal requirements to the overall system level integration. The high number of semiconductors and capacitor ...

A DC-DC converter system is presented based on an Input-Series/Output-Parallel Dual Active Bridge structure, in a full modular design. The association of 4 elementary modules leads to a one stage DAB. The proposed converter is dedicated to interface a DC-v ...

To improve the performances of the present European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) Large Hadron Collider (LHC), a new family of power supplies for Superconducting Magnets (SCM) is being designed to enhance the operating cycle and recover magnetic ...

The high-current delivered by a dedicated power supply is the condicio sine qua non to obtain the strong magnetic field produced by superconducting magnets. The end goal of such power supply is to control the current, very precisely, across this distinctiv ...
