Emotions affect and determine social relationships and interactions, memory and creativity, and influence the mechanisms of rational thinking and decision making. The influence of emotion on decision making has gained attention in computer science. By d ...

Enhanced sensation of reality from multimedia contents can be achieved by creating realistic multimedia environments, using visual, auditory, and olfactory information. Although the affective information from video and audio has been extensively studied, t ...

Evidence from neuroscience and psychology supports the idea that synchronization among various sub-components of the organism is the key-point to emotional processes. This study investigates the way signals from the central nervous system interact with sig ...

Understanding Quality of Experience (QoE) in various multimedia contents is still challenging. In this paper, we investigate the way QoE affects brain oscillations captured by electroencephalography (EEG). In particular, sixteen subjects watched 2D and 3D ...

Olfactory perception is a complex phenomenon associated with other processes such as cognition and emotion. Due to this complexity, there are still open issues and challenges regarding olfactory psychophysiology. One challenge concerns the investigation of ...

Studying emotions has become increasingly popular in various research fields. Researchers across the globe have studied various tools to implicitly assess emotions and affective states of people. Human computer interface systems specifically can benefit fr ...

As immersive technologies target to provide higher quality of multimedia experiences, it is important to understand the quality of experience (QoE) perceived by users from various multimedia rendering schemes, in order to design and optimize human-centric ...

One of the fundamental challenges in EEG signal processing is the selection of a proper method to correct ocular artifacts in the recorded electroencephalogram (EEG). Several methods have been proposed for this task. Among these methods, two main categorie ...

3D image and video have become popular since they can enhance the Quality of Experience (QoE) by adding the depth dimension to the traditional 2D media. In order to design and optimize the human-centric 3D multimedia processing techniques, it is important ...

This paper presents a novel multimodal dataset for the analysis of Quality of Experience (QoE) in emerging immersive multimedia technologies. In particular, the perceived Sense of Presence (SoP) induced by one-minute long video stimuli is explored with res ...

Since olfactory sense is gaining ground in multimedia applications, it is important to understand the way odor pleasantness is perceived. Although several studies have explored the way odor pleasantness perception influences the power spectral density of t ...

Sensation of reality refers to the ability of users to feel present in a multimedia experience. As 3D technologies target to provide more immersive and higher quality multimedia experiences, it is important to understand Quality of Experience (QoE) and sen ...
