We report two new molecularly engineered push-pull dyes, i.e., YA421 and YA422, based on substituted quinoxaline as a pi-conjugating linker and bulky-indoline moiety as donor and compared with reported IQ4 dye. Benefitting from increased steric hindrance w ...

A series of new pyrido[3,4-b]pyrazine-based organic sensitizers (PP-I and APP-I–IV) containing different donors and p-spacers have been synthesized and employed in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The absorption spectra properties of dyes are analysed b ...

CH3NH3PbX3 (MAPbX(3)) perovskites have attracted considerable attention as absorber materials for solar light harvesting, reaching solar to power conversion efficiencies above 20%. In spite of the rapid evolution of the efficiencies, the understanding of b ...

Cobalt sulphide (CoS) films are potentiodynamically deposited on fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) coated glass substrates employing one, three and five sweep cycles (CoS-I, CoS-III and CoS-V respectively). Analysis of the CoS-III film by impedance spectrosco ...

Overcoming ionic diffusion limitations is essential for the development of high-efficiency dye-sensitized solar cells based on cobalt redox mediators. Here, improved mass transport is reported for photoanodes composed of mesoporous TiO2 beads of varying po ...

Two new dyes based on a dinuclear rhenium complex and (E)-3-(5-(4-(bis(2,4-dibutoxy-[1,1-biphenyl]-4-yl)amino)phenyl)thiophen-2-yl)-2-cyanoacrylic acid (namely D35) have been investigated as sensitizers for dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Two different ...

Fluorine-doped tin-oxide (FTO) transparent conducting substrates, for use in cobalt bis(bipyridine pyrazole) complex based dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs), were compared using the conventional TiCl4 treatment with conformal TiO2 blocking layers formed by ...

Cyclometalated ruthenium sensitizers have been synthesized that differ with number of thiophene units on the auxiliary ligands. Sensitizers possessing four (SA25, SA246, and SA285) or none (SA282) sulfur atoms in their structures, were tested in solar cell ...

Cobalt terpyridine complexes could rival the classical triiodide/iodide redox couple as efficient alternative redox couples for dye-sensitized solar cells. Cobalt bis(2,2',6',2 ''-terpyridine) complexes enable systematic tuning of the redox potential by va ...

Lead halide perovskites have recently been used as light absorbers in hybrid organic–inorganic solid-state solar cells, with efficiencies as high as 15% and open-circuit voltages of 1 V. However, a detailed explanation of the mechanisms of operation within ...

Mesoscopic solid-state solar cells based on the inorganic-organic hybrid perovskite CH(3)NH(3)Pbl(3) in conjunction with the amorphous organic semiconductor spiro-MeOTAD as a hole transport material (HIM) are investigated using impedance spectroscopy (IS). ...

Hematite is a promising material for inexpensive solar energy conversion via water splitting but has been limited by the large overpotential (0.5-0.6 V) that must be applied to afford high water oxidation photocurrent. This has conventionally been addresse ...

The high molar absorption coefficient organic D-pi-A dye C220 exhibits more than 6% certified electric power conversion efficiency at AM 1.5G solar irradiation (100 mW cm(-2)) in a solid-state dye sensitized solar cell using 2,2',7,7'-tetrakis(N,N-dimethox ...

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSC) represent a valuable, efficient, and low-cost alternative to conventional semiconductor photovoltaic devices. A deeper understanding of the interactions at the dye/semiconductor heterointerface is fundamental for future pro ...

The influence of different redox mediators and electrolyte constituents on charge transfer processes in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSC) was studied by contactless transient photoconductance (TPC) measurements. Device subsets without FTO (Fluorine-doped ti ...

Organic-inorganic lead halide perovskites have recently received significant attention as active materials for high-performance photovoltaics and photo-detectors. However, the understanding of their operation mechanism remains limited. High-gain, low-volta ...

A major limitation of solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells is a short electron diffusion length, which is due to fast recombination between electrons in the TiO2 electron-transporting layer and holes in the 2,2',7,7'-tetrakis(N,N-di-p-methoxyphenylamine) ...

Novel ionic liquid-sulfolane composite electrolytes based on the 1,2,3-triazolium family of ionic liquids were developed for dye-sensitized solar cells. The best performing device exhibited a short-circuit current density of 13.4 mA cm(-2), an open-circuit ...

Thin compact layers of TiO2 are grown by thermal oxidation of Ti, by spray pyrolysis, by electrochemical deposition, and by atomic layer deposition. These layers are used in dye-sensitized solar cells to prevent recombination of electrons from the substrat ...

Dye-sensitized solar cells are a promising alternative to traditional inorganic semiconductor- based solar cells. Here we report an open-circuit voltage of over 1,000 mV in mesoscopic dye- sensitized solar cells incorporating a molecularly engineered cobal ...
