Rule-based control logics have proven to be efficient for automation of shading and lighting systems. However, successful commissioning of these systems for multiple stores non-residential buildings, regardless of the control logic, requires time-consuming ...

One fifth of the electricity consumption of Swiss buildings is due to electric lighting. Integrated control of sun shading and artificial lighting can mitigate this demand while maintaining user comfort. However, the drawback of existing building control a ...

Light induces important “Non-Image-Forming” (NIF) effects on human physiology and behavior, such as improvement of alertness, cognitive performance and mood. Considering these effects in office lighting can improve well-being and productivity of the occupa ...

Electric lighting is responsible of about one fifth of the electricity demand of buildings in Switzerland. Therein, integrated control of sun shadings and artificial lighting can mitigate the electricity demand while maintaining the user comfort and perfor ...

Lighting has an impact on the visual as well as cognitive performance of people in non-residential buildings. Light is the most powerful time cue for resetting the circadian pacemaker and ensuring correct synchronization of the internal clock with the envi ...

The lighting environment at indoor workplaces is important not only to provide vision and visual comfort, but also for light's direct influence on human physiology, cognitive performance and mood. The purpose of this ongoing study is to investigate the imp ...

Proper daylighting designs in interior spaces may reduce the energy costs of electric lighting and improve the productivity of occupants. This paper reports the potential advantages of a multifunctional complex fenestration system with embedded micro-mirro ...

Net energy import of Switzerland corresponds to about 13 BCHF (petroleum, uranium, etc.) each year. According to the energy perspective 2035 defined by Swiss Federal Office Energy, the energy import should be reduced to 7.3 BCHF. Meeting the goals defined ...

Blinds are usually installed on building façade to improve the visual and thermal comfort of the oc-cupants. They are now often linked to an automat-ed system that helps control the glare and decrease overheating. These automated systems are linked to a we ...

The wearable Brazilian illuminance meter “OcuLux” provides the opportunity to monitor continuously pupilar illuminance for indoor environment. The device is calibrated to evaluate the illuminance in lux for the range of 0 to 3500 lux with 23% of precision. ...

In a control unit (8) for a lighting control system, wherein the control unit (8) is configured to calculate output values based on input values and the output values include control commands for a lighting installation (4, 6, 7.1, 7.2), the input values i ...
