Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) was discovered in the first half of the 20th century. Today, neither analytical chemistry without NMR spectroscopy nor medical diagnostics without magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) could be imagined. A magnetic resonance sig ...

Homogeneous line-widths that arise from transverse relaxation tend to be masked by B-0 field inhomogeneity and by multiplets due to homonuclearf-couplings. Besides well-known spin-locking sequences that lead to signals that decay with a rate R-1p without a ...

The modulation of spin echoes by homonuclear scalar couplings render the determination of transverse relaxation rates of individual spins difficult, in particular for molecules that are isotopically enriched in 13C or 15N, and for all molecules with scalar ...

Although labile protons that are exchanging rapidly with those of the solvent cannot be observed directly, their exchange rate constants can be determined by indirect detection of scalar-coupled neighboring nuclei. We have used heteronuclear NMR spectrosco ...

A half-century quest for improving resolution in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) has enabled the study of molecular structures, biological interactions, and fine details of anatomy. This progress largely relied on the ...

Trains of 2pi or 4pi pulses fail to refocus offsets but can suppress the effects of bilinear interactions such as homonuclear scalar couplings. ...

In the long bygone days of continuous-wave nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, a selected transition within a multiplet of a high-resolution spectrum could be irradiated by a highly selective continuous-wave (CW) radio-frequency (rf) field with ...

Although nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) can provide a wealth of information, it often suffers from a lack of sensitivity. Dynamic Nuclear Polarization (DNP) provides a way to increase the polarization and hence the signal intensities in NMR spectra by tr ...

Echo modulations that arise in Carr–Purcell–Meiboom–Gill (CPMG) spin echo sequences and stem from homonuclear couplings can be suppressed by different methods. The evolution under homonuclear couplings can be either ‘‘locked’’ or ‘‘refocused’’, leading to ...
