Molecular oxygen and hydrogen peroxide reduction by 1,2-diferrocenylethane (DFcE) was investigated at a polarized water/1,2-dichloroethane (W/DCE) interface. The overall reaction points to a proton-coupled electron transfer (PCET) mechanism, where the firs ...

Molybdenum disulfide microparticles in suspension in an aqueous acidic solution adsorb at the interface with an organic electrolyte solution containing the reducing agent, decamethylferrocene, to catalyse hydrogen evolution. This catalytic process has been ...

This work introduces trifluorotoluene as an alternative organic solvent for studying charge transfer across liquid vertical bar liquid interfaces. In comparison with the most popular organic solvents in this field, 1,2-dichloroethane and nitrobenzene, trif ...

Excitation of the weak electron donor decamethylosmocene on illumination with white light produces an excited-state species capable of reducing organically solubilized protons under biphasic conditions. Insight into the mechanism and kinetics of light-driv ...

The concept of artificial photosynthesis at a polarised liquid membrane is presented. It includes two photosystems, one at each interface for the hydrogen and oxygen evolution respectively. Both reactions involve proton coupled electron transfer reactions, ...

Experimental studies and density functional theory (DFT) computations suggest that oxygen and proton reduction by decamethylferrocene (DMFc) in 1,2-dichloroethane involves protonated DMFc, DMFcH+, as an active intermediate species, producing hydrogen perox ...

Aqueous protons reduction by decamethylferrocene in 1,2-dichloroethane can be catalyzed efficiently by platinum and palladium nanoparticles electrogenerated in situ at the liquid–liquid interface. ...

The photochemical reactivity of osmocene in a biphasic water-organic solvent system has been investigated to probe its water splitting properties. The photoreduction of aqueous protons to hydrogen under anaerobic conditions induced by osmocene dissolved in ...

The four-electron reduction of oxygen by tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) in acidified 1,2-dichloroethane and at the acidified water/1,2-dichloroethane interface has been observed. Spectroscopy and ion transfer voltammetry results suggest that the reaction proceed ...

H-2 may be evolved biphasically using a polarised liquid|liquid interface, acting as a "proton pump", in combination with organic soluble metallocenes as electron donors. Sustainable H-2 production requires methodologies to recycle the oxidised donor. Here ...

The activities of a series of MoS2-based hydrogen evolution catalysts were studied by biphasic reactions monitored by UV/Vis spectroscopy. Carbon supported MoS2 catalysts performed best due to an abundance of catalytic edge sites and strong electronic coup ...
