Several hydrophobic long-chain quaternary ammonium and phosphonium ionic liquids (ILs) with functionalized aromatic anions were prepared following a metathesis route using tricaprylmethylammonium chloride (Aliquat 336) and trihexyl(tetradecyl) phosphonium ...

The cellular uptake and subcellular distribution including adduct formation with genomic DNA and uptake into mitochondria of two ruthenium(III)-based drugs in clinical trials, KP1019 and NAMI-A, and cisplatin, was investigated in cisplatin sensitive and re ...

A method based on the coupling of high resolution size-exclusion liquid chromatography using a polymer stationary phase with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry was developed to study the interactions of two metallodrugs - cisplatin and RAPTA-T - ...

The synthesis and in vitro anticancer activity of dihalo(η6-p-cymene)(3,5,6-bicyclophosphite-α-D-glucofuranoside)ruthenium(II) complexes are described. The compds. were characterized by NMR spectroscopy and ESI mass spectrometry, and the mol. structures of ...

An approach to characterize the interactions of RAPTA-T, a novel ruthenium-based anticancer drug candidate with intriguing antimetastatic properties, with human ovarian cancer cells in vitro is described. The distribution profile of the metallodrug within ...

Polyiodides have been transferred intact from acetonitrile solution to the gas phase and analyzed by mass spectrometry. A range of ions were observed, including I-11, I-13, and I-15, which have higher iodine/iodide ratios than any previously ...

The reactivity of three cytotoxic trans-PtII complexes bearing aliph. amine ligands, with transferrin and single-stranded oligonucleotides as DNA models, was investigated by ESI-MS and the results obtained are discussed in comparison with cisplatin. Tandem ...

Mass spectrometry (MS) has emerged as an important tool for studying anticancer metallodrugs in complex biological samples and for characterising their interactions with biomolecules and potential targets on a molecular level. The exact modes-of-action of ...

New triruthenium-carbonyl clusters derivatized with glucose-modified bicyclophosphite ligands have been synthesized. These compounds were found to have cytostatic and cytotoxic activity and depending on the number of bicyclophosphite ligands, and could be ...

Ruthenium compounds have become promising alternatives to platinum drugs by displaying specific activities against different cancers and favourable toxicity and clearance properties. Nonetheless, their molecular targeting and mechanism of action are poorly ...

Anthracene derivatives of ruthenium(II) arene compounds with 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphatricyclo[3.3.1.1]decane (pta) or a sugar phosphite ligand, viz., 3,5,6-bicyclophosphite1,2-O-isopropylidene-alpha-D-glucofuranoside, were prepared in order to evaluate their ...

An unprecedented series of titanocene-gold bi- and trimetallic complexes of the general formula [(eta(5)-C5H5)-(mu-eta(5):kappa(1)-C5H4(CH2)(n)PPh2)TiCl2AuClx](q+) (n = 0, 2, or 4; m = 1, x =1, q = 0 or m = 2, x = 0, q = 1) have been prepared and char ...

Ru-II(arene) anticancer compounds with maleimide functionality were prepared to allow selective interaction with thiol-containing biomolecules and thereby enforcing the selective delivery of the compounds to the tumour. ...

The binding of the ruthenium-based anticancer drug candidates KP1019, NAMI-A and RAPTA-T towards different double-stranded oligonucleotides was probed by electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry and compared with that of the widely used platinum-based che ...

The application of capillary electrophoresis (CE) combined with highly sensitive inductively-coupled-plasma mass spectrometric (ICP-MS) detection allows the interactions of metal complexes with biomols. to be characterized. This technique has been used to ...

A review. The promising drug candidate indazolium trans-[tetrachlorobis(1H-indazole)ruthenate(III)] (KP1019) is the second Ru-based anticancer agent to enter clin. trials. In this review, which is an update of a paper from 2006, the exptl. evidence for the ...

Elucidating the mode of action and thereby opening the way to the design of chemotherapeutic agents is one of the major goals of metal-based anticancer research. Hydrolysis and DNA binding play an important role for pharmaceutical formulation and for exert ...
